Chapter 8 - Justice's Sting

To celebrate the launch, I already have TWO pieces posted: a short patron-only smut fic and the first chapter of a longer eldritch horror story I've been writing that's available to everyone.

Author's Note: Well, here it is: the eighth chapter of Lethal Injection. It has been a very long time coming, I know, and a large part of that is because of how I left this story. I just didn't really know where to go from where I left it, so my motivation to try to continue died off.

In addition to this new chapter, I have gone through and edited the entire rest of the story. Mostly this was just tweaking and rewriting things so that I'm happier with them, but I have made a few more significant tweaks:

Hogwarts now starts at 18, more like a university than the school in canon. I've decided I don't want to try and tell the kind of stories I want to tell with characters who are so young, so I've aged them up. As a result, I've edited things to make sense for characters who are older than I wrote them previously.

Everyone is now more mature and less desperately horny. I cringed when I read some of the stuff I'd written, and I've now fixed it to keep the spirit of what was intended but make it a little better in the execution.

I've improved a lot as a writer since I last worked on this story, and part of that process — a big part, to tell the truth — has been improving my skills in plotting and planning a cohesive narrative. I look back at the early chapters and, god, if I were writing it now I would throw out half of it. I've decided not to do that, but the story will be much tighter and less meandering going forward.

I have actually gone ahead and planned the entire rest of the story in detail with the rough shape of the chapters. I think I've managed to find a way to make what I want to do in this book and the sequel (because, yes, I do have plans for the sequel already) work with what I already have.

And, now, for those of you who were too lazy to read all of that, here's a summary of the important points:

IMPORTANT SUMMARY: Hogwarts now starts at 18 and characters have been aged up appropriately. The earlier chapters have been edited and revised to improve them, but the important plot-relevant stuff is still the same. You don't need to go back and reread unless you want to.
