Vitav quickly descended into the secret passageway, heading down into the depths of the palace.

No guards watched over this place, as even its corridors were riddled with extremely powerful enchantments, but Vitav tore through the enchantments, directing his most powerful spells at them.

He was whizzing by the time he reached a pair of sealed doors, but with another directed spell, the seal broke and the doors swung open, unleashing a wave of magic from within.

The magical air washed over him, replenishing his strength, and he drew in a breath, relishing the power as he stepped into the chamber.

The chamber was bigger than an entire wing of the Palace above it.

The ceiling was much higher than he expected, leaving him to ponder on how far underground this was. The solid gold pillars disappeared into an elaborate ceiling, and the walls were embedded with precious treasure.

Burning torches hung on the pillars, giving off crisp blue flames to light the massive space, and numerous chests and heaps of precious gems and relics winked at him from all around.

But his eyes were locked on the small orb hovering right in the centre of the Chamber, on a raised center platform with steps carved from pure crystals leading up to it.

He climbed the steps, feeling the orb's protective enchantments with each step. But he was determined to get the Sceptre of Alaus floating within the orb.

With this, he could rule Luxia.

With this, he could rule the world!

He centered his strength and shot a spell at the orb, bit it was as if a gentle breeze hit it, as there was no effect at all.

Vitav strengthened the spells, and the chamber shook violently, as he shot spell after spell at the staff's protective orb, but to no avail.

He growled in anger, then looked around, feeling the auras of the relics in the chamber.

He had been weakened by the seals on the way here, but the mere aura of these items had replenished his strength. And that meant...

'I can absorb them and grow even stronger!'

He sat quickly, casting a few spells, which made a magic circle appear around him. The he shut his eyes and began to chant a series of spells.

Soon, he could feel the power of the relics around him, and he drew it all into himself till he felt he might burst with power.

'Now!' He floated to his feet, and with the slightest contact, the floor dented, the cracks fanning out across the platform.

He sent a spell at the orb, and it shattered, causing the entire chamber to shake violently.

Vitav held out a hand, and the luminescent blue Sceptre zoomed into his open palm, sending torrents of impossible power surging through him.

"Yes!" He laughed maniacally. "This is true power! I shall rule everything!!"

He floated upwards, his entire body glowing with sheer blinding light, and he smiled in triumph...

But then the illusion shattered.

The Sceptre disintegrated in Vitav's hands, dissolving into ashes, as his eyes widened in realization.

"A trap..." he hissed, as the surge of power was snuffed out like a candle's flame.

The light vanished in a blink and he crashed to the broken platform, the weight of the same power bearing down on him.

"No!" He struggled to his knees, desperately glancing around the chamber. "Where is it?! Where is the sceptre?!!"
