Kavya looked at Samar and noticed he seemed lost in thought. As their other friends were chatting, she gently touched his hand. "Hey, can we talk for a minute? Just the two of us?"

Samar nodded, looking a bit surprised. They walked to the balcony, where the cool night air was a stark contrast to the warmth inside.

Kavya took a deep breath, her hands shaking nervously. "Samar, I need to tell you something. It's about us."

A mix of hope and concern crossed Samar's face. "What is it, Kavya?"

She looked down, trying to find the right words. "I know we've been close for a long time, and I care about you a lot. I know you've always looked after me since childhood, and I've rejected you, hurting you in the process."

Samar's face fell for a moment, but he stayed quiet and let her speak.

"It's not just you," Kavya quickly explained. "I'm not thinking about love or relationships right now. After my last experience, I... I'm confused. I don't think I'm ready for a relationship." And I want to focus all my time on myself.

She looked up at him, her eyes pleading for understanding. "My focus is on my career right now, this MBA. I hope you understand."

Samar was silent for a moment, processing her words. Then he gave her a small, sad smile. "I appreciate your honesty, Kavya. I won't lie, it hurts a little, but I respect your feelings and decisions. And I know you always think practically about life, unlike me."

He gently squeezed her hand. "Your friendship means a lot to me. That will never change, no matter what. I will always be here for you, whether as a friend or... whatever you need."

Samar took a deep breath as he finally spoke.

He thought and cherished his feelings. I know I had feelings for you, but I never want to hold on to the guilt of having loved a girl who is so understanding and now is independent.

Kavya looked at him, her eyes a mix of gratitude and sadness. "Samar, I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you. You mean a lot to me, and I—"

Samar raised a hand, gently stopping her mid-sentence. "You don't need to apologize, Kavya. Our feelings are beyond our control. And you're right to focus on your dreams and career right now."

He leaned against the balcony railing, looking out at the city lights. "I'm confused too. A part of me wants you to stay, to be here with me. But a bigger part knows it wouldn't be fair to you or our friendship."

Kavya nodded, understanding the struggle in his words. "I'm scared, Samar. Of letting go, of the unknown. But I'm also excited about the possibilities. Does that make sense?"

"It makes perfect sense," Samar replied with a small smile. "And as your friend, I want you to seize those possibilities, even if it means going far away."

They were silent for a moment, both lost in thought. A mix of uncertainty about Kavya's future and her determination to fulfill her dreams, and the struggle of Samar's feelings for Kavya and his desire to support her.

Finally, Samar faced Kavya completely. "Listen, I can't say my feelings will change overnight. But I can promise you this: I will always be your friend. Your dreams matter to me, and I will do whatever I can to help you achieve them."

Tears filled Kavya's eyes. She hugged Samar tightly. "Thank you," she whispered. "Your friendship means everything to me."

As they pulled apart, both acknowledged the complexity of their feelings with small smiles, recognizing the strength of their bond.
