It's based on some things that actually happened, and have taken some creative liberties to make it a good story. I've added some twists and turns, and maybe even a little bit of exaggeration, to make it more exciting.
I've also taken some liberties with the timeline and the order of events, just to make the story flow better. I've combined some characters and situations, and maybe even added a few characters that weren't actually there. So, while the feelings and the main ideas are real, it's important to remember that this is a work of fiction!
