"iva! why is the storage room's door not opening?!" minho shouted into his phone, his grip on the handle tightening as he tried to yank it open with more force than finesse. he heard the lock mechanism click uselessly, refusing to budge.
on the other end of the line, iva's familiar, unbothered laugh filtered through the phone. "minho, if you break that door, you're the one paying for it!"
"iva, unlock the door!" minho whined, his frustration bubbling over into a childish tone that he only really used around people he knew well. he threw a look at jisung, who stood beside him with an amused grin tugging at his lips.
jisung chuckled, clearly enjoying the little show. "looks like she's having fun," he remarked, crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall, looking at Minho with raised eyebrows. "what did you do to make her lock us in here?"
"i didn't do anything," Minho huffed, rolling his eyes. he could feel his cheeks warming under Jisung's playful gaze, and he looked away, not wanting the male to see just how much his smile affected him.
iva's voice returned over the line. "sorry bud, but it looks like you're going to have to wait." and with a smug finality, she hung up.
minho let out a defeated sigh, letting his hand fall away from the handle. "this woman..." he muttered under his breath. he could still feel jisung's eyes on him, amusement lighting up his expression. trying to ignore the way his heart skipped a beat, he turned back to face him.
"so," jisung asked with a smirk, "what's the plan now?"
minho ran a hand through his hair, shrugging. "we harass iva until she gets tired of ignoring us. what else can we do?"
jisung snickered, clearly relishing the idea of tormenting iva just as much as minho was. he watched as minho redialed her number, pressing call after call while muttering increasingly dramatic complaints under his breath. after the fifth try with no answer, jisung reached over and playfully nudged his shoulder.
"think she'll let us out if you just keep whining?"
minho's shoulders slumped. he didn't want to admit that jisung's playful teasing was making him more flustered than annoyed, but he felt himself relax just a little as he laughed in defeat. "probably not. though, she has to crack eventually, right?"
jisung chuckled softly. "baby, you're lucky i'm here to suffer with you."
their eyes met for a moment, and minho felt his heart give a dangerous little flutter. being alone with Jisung like this, even in a frustrating situation, made him overly aware of just how close they were. he swallowed, trying to play it cool. "and what's that supposed to mean?"
"means it'd be boring if you were here without me." jisung flashed him a grin before glancing back at the door. he gave the handle an experimental tug, but it didn't move. he turned back to Minho with a shrug. "guess we're stuck here. might as well make the most of it."
minho leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. "what, you think we're going to be in here for hours?"
"with iva?" jisung raised an eyebrow. "i'm sure i wouldn't be surprised if she let us stew just to make a point."
minho laughed, letting his guard down a bit. "you're probably right. she's never going to let me live this down."
they shared a smile, and for a moment, the annoyance of being locked in faded into the background. minho tried to shake off the sudden nervousness bubbling up. why did being alone with jisung always make him feel so... vulnerable?
jisung broke the silence with a chuckle. "hey, maybe if we're stuck here long enough, we can come up with an escape plan. we can bust out of here like it's a prison break."
minho laughed, glad for the distraction. "oh yeah, because that's going to end well. you know iva could catch us in, like, two seconds, right?"
"maybe, but it'd be fun to try." jisung grinned, and minho felt his resolve melting under that playful gaze. they kept tossing ideas back and forth, the ridiculousness of each one making them laugh harder. jisung's laughter was contagious, and minho couldn't help but laugh along, feeling a warmth spread through him.
just then, minho's phone buzzed. he checked it and groaned, showing jisung a message from iva: you are not getting out until i finish my shift. make yourselves comfortable! xoxo
minho felt his frustration build up again, making jisung snort. "i swear to god, she's doing this on purpose."
"of course she is," jisung replied, shaking his head as he chuckled softly. "seems like we're going to be here a while."
the two of them leaned against the wall, each lost in thought for a moment. minho could feel his heart pounding, the silence between them filled with a strange kind of tension he didn't know how to handle.
"should we... clean the storage room, then?"
"i guess we should, in the meantime."
"yeah?"
"yeah."
