Elita paced back and forth, trying to lull the screaming newborn to sleep. But Silverstar was set on waking all of Iacon. Her screams only grew louder as Elita began to get flustered.

"Let me have her, Elita. Go get some sleep." Orion said, walking in, followed by Jawstriker. He wasn't the only one who was kept awake that night. Elita carefully handed her mate the baby and took her son up in a hug.

"Momma, Silvy is loud." The boy said, covering his ears.

"She simply cannot fall asleep, son. You were the same." Orion said. Elita carried the boy back to his room as he rested his head on her shoulder. Now alone, Orion set out to silence the restless newborn.

"Now I thought babies were quiet, miss." He said. Silverstar only screamed. He sighed, shaking his head. "And here I thought I had a soldier in the midst." He mused.

Orion sat in the rocking chair, thinking.

"You know, I remember when Deathstar was born, I thought Megatronus would offline himself." He chuckled, noting how Silverstar slowly quieted as he spoke. He paused, and she began screaming again.

"It was a night like this, and late, later than now. He had insisted that we stay the first night, which was amusing due to Megatronuss' "gladiator" reputation. It was a rough night for us all, but it took Megatronus singing to lull the boy to sleep." He chuckled. "Funniest sight to see." He looked down to see Silverstar asleep in his arms. He had to admit it was adorable. Carefully, the Archivist stood out of the rocking chair and walked back to the crib, kissing Silverstars forehead before laying her on her back. He stood there, over the crib, just watching her. Afraid that if he left, she would too. With a final kiss to the forehead, he left the room, looking back one last time before closing the door.

...

"Did you sing like Megatronus?"

Orion snorted.

"I don't sing. And I didn't have to." He said, sitting on the edge of their berth.

"I thought it was carriers who had the closest bonds with their children?" Elita asked, hurt in her voice.

"They are. But I think it's a preference thing. Besides, as I recall Jawstriker prefers spending most of his days with you, doing whatever carrier-creation things you two do that is so much fun." Orion teased. Elita swatted at him playfully. He settles down and Elita wrapped her arms around him, snuggling against his chest.

"What if we aren't good parents?" She asked. Orion looked down to look his mate in the eyes. She was worried; Orion shook his head.

"We did fine so far, why question our parenting skills now?" He asked.
"Girls are different. Requires different needs. And eventually..."

"Enough, dear. You'll give yourself PTS if you worry too much." He said, and massaged her back with one hand.

"And we are not alone. We have our family, our friends to help us if we need it. And most importantly, you have me. I will take leave until she is three if it will make you feel better." He said, hugging her tightly. She gave a weak smile.

"Just until she's three?" Elita asked, Looking up at him.

"Or longer." He added. She smiled, calmed by her mates determination to prove he will always be there when she needs him most. Although they both knew she would suffer from PTS naturally, Elita felt better by her mate, and soon both fell asleep that night, never having to wake up until the next morning.
