"Have you ever watched the Bad Seed?" Michael asked Dean while we played truth of dare, being the new girl was confusing at times because in my case I'd been here the least and practically knew nothing but to train with Lia which wasn't much fun.
I chuckle before speaking up, "what is that supposed to mean?" I say looking around confused, something in Dean clicked, his jaw tightened and his words were barely audible, "no." Micheal grinned maliciously.
"I have." Dean stood up, "I'm done here." Lia spoke up- nothing but worry and annoyance in her voice, "Dean-" but he was already gone, I turned to Cassie.
"Was it something I said?" Even though that question was directed at Cassie, Lia rolled her eyes. "News-flash, Y/n, not everything is about you, and good going Michael!" She said storming behind Dean who was already gone to his room.
The evening quickly simmered into the night and I couldn't sleep, not because I had a crippling fear that Lia would scalp me in my sleep, but because I couldn't stop thinking about Michael's question and why it'd make Dean so angry.
Careful not wake Lia who was like a poked bear when she was woken, I placed my feet on the cold wood floor and walked to Dean's room, after knocking softly and waiting a little, he opened the door. His hair was a bit disheveled so couldn't tell if he had been sleeping, I finally broke the silence.
"I wanted to come and apologize. I should've realized you were uncomfortable by Michael's question and I sorta added insult to injury, I'm sorry." Dean kept his stoic expression up before speaking.
"Come in, you obviously don't know anything." I scoff internally at his rudeness, I take a seat on the edge of his bed. He takes a seat beside me but doesn't turn towards me.
"Didn't Micheal let it slip once or twice? Or do you just catch on later than others?" I rolled my eyes, "if it's something with your past you don't have to tell me- and Michael shouldn't be bringing it up-"
He stopped me from speaking any further.
"My dad's a serial killer, he tortured women for years, once the FBI caught him, they sent me here. Thought my knowledge of hurting people was helpful, I'm the reason this program is going on," my body froze, it felt like all my muscles halted, something Dean would never know was that I really liked him, even though his jabs can be hurtful. I didn't touch him, or pity him, that wasn't what he needed right now.
"You're not like him. I swear you're not." He chuckled but nothing was funny right now, "you're not the first to say so. But no matter who or how many times you say it I'll always believe it."
I bite my cheek to stop myself from arguing, I took a shaky breath, "I can't change your mind, but I just wanted you to know that I know you're nothing like him. Whether you want to hear it or not."
With that, I silently closed his door and retreated back into my room where Lia was awake with a 'Lia look' as Sloane said once before, "you better tell me you did not go to Dean's room." I swallow, going toe to toe with Lia was no joke, luckily I never backed down.
"I did. I don't see what the problem is." She scoffed, "You need to stay away from Dean. Whatever you forced out of him, never bring it up again." She says getting in my face, I stay calm and don't move her away like a worser version of me would have, I simply grab my pillow and walk to the living room.
The next morning I flutter my eyes open to see Dean sitting on the opposite couch eating his breakfast, "some habits never go away," If I wasn't still wiping the sleep off my face I would've rolled my eyes, "I could not be in the same room as Lia, let alone the same bed, why's she so overprotective of you?"
"Lia was the second to join the program, she threatened to run away one day, I told her I was coming with, she called my bluff and I picked up. We spent three days on the street, I watched over her while she slept at night. She's like my sister, Y/n."
My gaze softened, Dean and Lia were close but never romantically, I didn't know any of that, Dean broke the silence, "I like you, Y/n. And I don't think I'm worthy of love, but I know I want it." I stand up and sit beside him.
"I like you too, Dean. And trust me, I'll make sure you know how worthy of love you are." He pressed his lips to mine, after a few minutes he pulled away for air.
"Get a room." Lia says from the kitchen.
