CHAPTER 24: Cost Me Every Penny
Everyone was back in the classrooms, of course there were no classes today since it is Wednesday, a remote day as a college student to catch up on the last three days of homework. Valerie was in history prep class, with Wyatt who was also in the same one. Neither one of them made eye contact, you know as rumors go on throughout, but they decided to keep their little secret on the down low, plus it was history class, last thing they need is people saying they got history. Slowly everyone's eyes were on Valentina who had walked in the room. Wyatt didn't look up from his textbook, instead he looked over towards Valerie. Then went back to his book. Valentina sat close next to Valerie. She whispered to her. " I would honestly tell myself right now, to leave him while you have the chance, not because he's a guy, it's just because it would cost you everything , everyone else may have you fooled, but it's worth every penny, looks like you got competition, try to keep up!" said Valentina she smiled. Valerie glanced back at Wyatt. The bell rang, it was time for class, soon Nadia came to save the day.
" Um, Valentina, if that is your name? This is my seat, new students sit in the front of the class, or at least people like you need to, cause this is my spot!" urged Nadia. " I was just trying to make conversation!" implied Valentina. " I don't think you're hearing me, this is my desk and I was assigned to sit here, so sit somewhere else, or you're out of the yearbook! Kiss first place best couple on campus..goodbye! Who knows maybe you won't be so lucky!" informed Nadia. " You must be the head committee of the yearbook, I don't remember meeting you during orientation, do you know when voting starts!?" questioned Valerie.
" Right now, hey everyone get your phones ready for the newest challenge this year for the yearbook, only for this month only this summer, as executive president of the committee we have requested a little game challenge for the spot for best couple on campus, whoever boyfriend can get to know their girlfriend the most, and take pictures and post them before the end of the month with the most votes will get special reward, until then make sure you tag the school, and couples don't forget to send pictures daily." shouted Nadia. " Now step aside..new girl, voting starts today, nice meeting you!" teased Nadia to Valentina.
" It was my pleasure, I hope you vote for me and my boyfriend, we are totally exclusive..but here take your seat, and Valerie I'm gonna beat you in the yearbook, watch out!" commented Valentina. " Beginner's luck! I don't ever lose to anyone, you just got a lucky head start!" said Valerie softly. Wyatt was busy finishing up his essay on his laptop, he wasn't paying her any attention. Soon class was dismissed, everyone went elsewhere, Wyatt stood back for a bit before getting up to leave. " Did I miss where both of our names were plastered on the whiteboard last week, and somehow it was sent to my phone!?" Wyatt asked, confused.
" No, technically Jared sent it to you last week, I covered for him, tried to keep Mr. Larsen from getting you both in trouble!" explained Valerie. " Taking one for the team!" muttered Wyatt. " Something like that, so how much is it gonna cost for lunch tmr? I'm guessing you have something already in store for the next few weeks!?" wondered Valerie. " I wouldn't mind skipping lunch to practice at the cafe, coffee on Jared!" answered Wyatt. " What with you two and coffee, it's like you guys enjoy indulging in sugar!" teased Valerie. " Anything is better than working behind the counter!" moaned Wyatt. " Don't be bitter, be sweet, it takes a lot out of you to put a smile on people's faces over a cup of coffee beans!" joked Valerie.
" Very funny, now what are you supposed to do for the rest of the day? " asked Wyatt grabbed his papers off his desk. " Watch you indulge your frustration out on Tyler, hopefully, you are my superior boyfriend in exchange for ultimate freedom!" teased Valerie. " I'm always free to disagree with you, I think I'm gonna go practice my music, you can come and watch! The cafe is closed for inventory restock!" insisted Wyatt. " Look who is learning the ropes, sounds like making coffee is your second hobby of interest!" said Valerie spontaneously. " Only if you're interested in tasting some free samples of the meal, it's free !" offered Wyatt. " Later in the daytime, I got to work on something!" responded Valerie " Hey, I have something cool to show you later, but I'm gonna need your number!" asked Wyatt gently.
