Estrellas Epilogue
✦✧⊹⋆𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓻𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓼⋆⊹✧✦
"No matter how much time passes they would always have the stars to look at.
Both always knew they were looking at the night together. They both forever, will have the Estrellas."
Since the beginning of dawn, there have been two, the male and female. Both are supposedly destined for one another. I believe that is complete and utter bullshit. If we all were meant only to have one, I wish that something had told me or hinted to me who my person was. If someone had suggested it was her, that would have made realizing easier.
Maybe eventually she would pick up on my hints, maybe she would pick up on the light brushes against her arm, maybe she would realize I wish I could stare at her until I stop breathing. But no, it took us seventeen years to finally come out and speak the truth. I felt like I always knew she was my one, but did she know that? During the year did she think about me? Or was I only there when she wanted? Did she know I tried distracting myself with others but it never worked, she always came to mind no matter what.
One day, when we were both twelve, I wanted to finally make the move on my future wife. If I suggested marriage, we could get married right then and there, but we were twelve.
"When we're old, can we get married?" I bravely suggested. I was so scared that I had to stop myself from shaking too hard. To this day I'm still surprised I said it, my balls hadn't even dropped but that took serious guts.
"What do you mean?" She responded. It broke me that she didn't understand what I was trying to say.
I took a deep breath and began to explain, "I want to marry someone I love, I don't think I could ever love someone as much as you."
She stared blankly at me and I think I had started to shake when she hit me on my arm. It may be weird but feeling her touch reminded me why I did want to marry her. I might have only been twelve but back then everything felt so surreal.
I wait at the window of our Cousin's Beach House, constantly pacing, waiting for the Conklins to arrive when in all truth, waiting for Lauren to arrive.
I heard a crunchy noise from the rocky pavement road leading to the house, meaning one thing and one thing only, they were arriving!
I ran outside and I saw Steven and Laurel getting out of the car. I don't know what was taking her so long, but saying hi to them first just meant I could have a true reunion with my girl.
...Well, she's technically not my girl but maybe one day she'll see me how I see her.
Lauren finally steps out of the car and she looks even more beautiful than usual. Perhaps it's due to me not seeing her in a while, but still, the way she smiles, the way her hair flows with the wind, the way she just stands there looking at me to see what's next.
I run towards her and pick her up, gently lacing my hands around her waist as I twirl her around. All I wanted to do was tell this girl how much I loved her. How much I thought of her. But it wasn't the right time, not then.
But Lauren would be the only person I ever love and that would be the summer that started it all.
Many Years later...
It was like any other morning. Waking up, taking in the cooling breeze from the open window of our house in Cousins, Massachusetts. I must have slept in, the other side of the bed was rigid and cold. I find my slippers and stretch, I run downstairs to make some coffee. I look outside and hear laughter, I see Lauren and Belly outside sitting on the deck. Holding their most precious items.
