"Are you sure you packed everything up Lia?" My mother asks as I toss the last bag into the trunk of my car.
"For the one hundredth time, yes I have everything." I giggle, closing the trunk. Today's the day I'm finally moving into my dream college, University of Southern California, and I couldn't be more excited.
"Are you sure you wanna drive? What if you get lost?" She asks me while frantically pacing in the driveway.
"Mom relax, it's only a two hour drive and plus you and dad will be right behind me the whole way there." I give her a comforting hug and get in the drivers seat. "See you there!" I yell out of my window and drive out of the driveway.

"Hello, Can I get your name please?" The girl asks as she smiles up at me.
"Oh yeah sorry. It's Lia Foster" I awkwardly say. I watch as she tries to find my name. After a minute, she hands me my key and id.
"Welcome to USC and have a great year!" I thank her and go grab my stuff out of my car. I didn't realize how little I packed until I was putting everything into the semi-dirty grey bin.
"Ok, room 208 is what we are looking for." I say to my parents as I look back in forth between the doors. "Ah found it!" I shout to them. I put the key into the door and open it. The room was a decent size with a nice view of campus. A lot of natural light which I love. I start taking everything out of the bin and placing it on my desk while my mom cleans the room like her life depends on it.
"Ok honey what should I do?" My dad questions with his hands on his hips.
"Build this for me." I smile and slide a box that contains pieces of a future nightstand in it. He shakes his head and grabs his toolbox. I softly laugh and get back to taking stuff out the bin.
About an hour passes and I'm now currently hanging posters above my bed. I hear the doorknob turning and see a girl with a bunch of bags come barreling through the door. I hop off my bed and patiently wait until she notices me.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so freaking glad to finally put these bags down!" She exclaims as she dramatically drops them to the ground. She turns to look at me and immediately rushes over to where I am. "Hi, I'm so excited to meet you!" She pulls me into a tight hug. Damn this girl is surprisingly strong. "My name's Maeve and I already know we are going to be best friends!" She squeals before returning to her bags. She's really pretty, with long blonde hair and big, beautiful green eyes. I introduce myself and return to what I was doing.
"Well Lia, looks like we finished." My mom quietly utters, trying to hold back tears. She hugs me and gives me a kiss on the cheek. "Me and your dad are so proud of you and we know you are going to do great here." I start to feel my eyes welling up with tears. I pull them into one final embrace.
"I'm so proud of you honey." My dad says while patting my shoulder. I watch as they walk out the door, leaving me alone in this new chapter of my life. Growing up I was always by my parent's side, but now, it's all on me. I wipe my tears and turn back to my room. I walk to the picture of my parents and me on my desk. I'm really going to miss them. I sigh and sit down.
"Do you need a hug?" I hear from across the room. My eyes nearly pop out of their sockets as I quickly shake my head no. She frowns and goes back to decorating her side.
