Aanya's POV :

Lying on my bed, I stared at the ceiling, my mind racing. The remnants of the gala were still swirling around me like glitter in the air, but this time, it wasn't just the sparkles that had me wide awake. Suddenly, a surge of joy erupted within me, and I couldn't help it-I screamed, "OMG! Was that real?!"

No, no, no... Am I dreaming? I bolted upright, my heart pounding in my chest. Freaking Varun. Varun Oberoi, the Varun Oberoi, had asked me for a dance. Me! Of all the girls in that room, he had chosen me! I clutched my pillow to my chest, my excitement bubbling over. "Am I seriously dreaming right now?" I muttered to myself, giggling uncontrollably.

My mind flashed back to the moment it happened.

The ballroom was alive with laughter and music, the scent of fresh flowers wafting through the air. I could still see the elegant chandeliers casting a warm glow over the dancing crowd. Maya had been nudging me the whole night, urging me to join in, but I was too lost in my own thoughts, too intimidated by the glamorous surroundings and the countless beautiful girls twirling around with the men.

"Come on, Aanya! You have to dance with someone! You can't just sit here all night!" Maya insisted, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Who would even want to dance with me?" I replied, a hint of insecurity slipping into my voice.

Just then, out of nowhere, Varun appeared, his tall frame cutting through the crowd. He looks dashing, a stark contrast against the colorful gowns and suits around us. My breath hitched in my throat as he approached. "Aanya," he said, his voice deep and slightly grumpy, but there was a softness hidden beneath it, "would you like to dance with me?"

Time seemed to freeze. I stood there, frozen in disbelief. Did Varun Oberoi just ask me to dance? My mind raced, and my heart threatened to leap out of my chest. I looked around, half expecting him to turn and ask one of the other girls instead. But no, he was looking straight at me.

"Say yes! Go on!" Maya exclaimed, squeezing my hand and practically pushing me towards him. "Just say yes!"

I stuttered, "Y-Yes!" My voice barely came out as a whisper, but he smiled, and it felt like the world lit up. As I stepped forward, Maya took my hands and placed them in his, giving me that little push I needed. I was now standing in front of him, my heart racing like a wild drum.

We moved to the center of the ballroom, and I could feel the eyes of everyone on us, but all I could focus on was Varun. The music shifted to a slow, romantic tune, and we began to sway, our bodies finding rhythm amidst the chaos.

"What do I do?" I thought frantically. His hands were on my waist, and I could feel the warmth radiating from him, making my cheeks heat up. I was blushing like crazy. "Just breathe, Aanya," I told myself.
