(Y/N)'s exhausted form had finally succumbed to slumber, her tears drying on her cheeks as she lay amidst the tangled remains of her shattered dreams. Her once-neat braids now lay discarded, freed from their constraints, allowing her (golden/bronze/black) tresses to cascade like a river of (Y/H/C) across the bed and floor. The locks spilled over the cobblestone edges, pooling on the cold flags like liquid moonlight, illuminating the darkened chamber.

A familiar, deep voice shattered the stillness, echoing through the tower's emptiness. "(Y/N)! (Y/N)!" The sound resonated within her, stirring her from her sorrow-filled slumber. She stood, her (Y/E/C)-coloured gaze drifting toward the window, its opening a stark rectangle against the star-studded sky. Night's gentle breeze whispered secrets, carrying the scent of blooming wildflowers.

At the window's edge, her fingers curled around the rough stone, her eyes straining into the darkness. A figure stood below, his features indistinct, yet, his voice unmistakable. "Come down." Stefan's urgency was palpable, his words infused with a sense of...longing.

(Y/N)'s response was hesitant, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can't." The words hung in the air, a fragile barrier between them. Stefan's determination, however, would not be swayed. "Then I'll come up!" he declared, his voice unwavering.

"How?" Her query was genuine, her curiosity piqued. Stefan's response was simple, but bold. "Let down your hair." And so, she did.

The pretty (Y/H/C) strands unfurled, a shimmering cascade that seemed to touch the stars. Stefan grasped the offered lifeline, his hands wrapping around the (silky/curly/wavy) threads.

He began his ascent, the thick hair supporting his weight as he climbed, its gentle sway a counterpoint to his steady progress. Finally, he reached the window's edge and pulled himself up, his eyes locking onto Rapunzel's. "You're even more beautiful than I remember," he breathed, his words a gentle reverence, as if beholding a work of art. (Y/N)'s cheeks flushed a delicate pink as she tucked a stray lock behind her ear, her gaze dropping beneath Stefan's admiring stare.

"How did you find me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, as if sharing a treasured secret.

Stefan's eyes crinkled at the corners as he climbed over the windowsill, meeting her halfway. His fingers intertwined with hers, a spark of electricity running through the touch. "I searched...everywhere," he replied, his voice filled with the promise of endless devotion.

However, their tender moment was shattered, ripped apart by a vision of unspeakable horror. The room dissolved, leaving (Y/N) and Stefan suspended in mid-air. A colossal figure emerged, its presence suffocating – Meré Gothel, her slim face twisted into a grotesque grimace. Gigantic hands closed around (Y/N)'s lower stomach, holding her captive like a delicate porcelain doll.

Gothel's cackling laughter echoed through the void, a sound that sent shivers down (Y/N)'s spine. Stefan's face contorted in a desperate bid to reach her, but he was torn away, forced to flee. (Y/N)'s teardrops blurred her vision, her screams muffled by the crushing grip. She watched, helpless, as Stefan vanished into the darkness, his muscles back receding into the distance without a single glance backward -

(Y/N) jolted awake, her chest heaving, the nightmare's residue clinging to her like a shroud. "Let me go! Let me g—" Her words died on her lips as she sat up, the familiar contours of her tower prison solidifying around her. She rose, her steps drawn to the window, where the star-studded sky offered a meager solace.

As she gazed out, a shadowy form swooped into view – Hugo, his wings beating in a slow, mournful rhythm. Their eyes met, an awkward, charged moment, before the dragon banked away, disappearing into the night. (Y/N)'s gaze lingered on the stars, her thoughts a jumble of longing and despair. Mechanically, she reached for her silver hairbrush, its cool surface a comforting presence in the darkness.
