Loyalty and betrayal weave a delicate waltz, a dance Sable Hawke knew all too painfully well. From the moment she entered Regulus Black's life, arms outstretched, she wished for him to join her in that haunting choreography—a bittersweet invitation into the shadows.

As they drew closer, Sable saw the storm brewing beneath his polished and pristine exterior, a battle between family ties and the desire for freedom. In hushed corners, she urged him to break free from the strings that bound him, her voice a gentle rebellion against the darkness. "You don't have to be their puppet," she whispered, a spark of daydream in her eyes.

Yet, as their souls laced together, the burden of their pasts wedged between them. Sable bore the scars of loss from the war, while Regulus clashed with the legacy of his lineage—a lineage that threatened to suffocate everything between them. Their moments together became a sanctuary, a divine warmth that kept the brittle cold of the war at bay.

When Sable receives an invitation to join The Order of The Phoenix, Regulus felt torn. He was so deeply caught between the relationship that ignited his spirit and the loyalty that shackled him to the darkness. Their arguments, fierce and desperate, echoed the unspoken fear that they could slip away like sand through their fingers.

In a pivotal moment, Sable's defiance ignited a choice within Regulus: to stand by her side or succumb to the weight of his family's name. As the war's specter approached, they faced a painful truth—love, in its purest form, often demands sacrifice and the courage to let go.

Fire can only dance in vividness for so long before its flames surrender to the embrace of darkness. In the end, as their paths diverged in the fading light, Sable knew that the dance, once filled with hope, now teetered on the verge of misery—a poignant reminder that in a world drenched in darkness, even the most profound love can be a bittersweet waltz.

CERTIFIED YAPPER: Well, Carpe Diem readers, I fear you will never get the ending of the old Carpe Diem. I began that story when I was fourteen and have not touched it since. Every time I tried to go back it felt too foreign, so it had just become a disaster. I decided I needed to take the bones of what I had wanted it to be and craft it into how I write and tell stories now. To do that, I felt I needed to start with a new title and main character. I apologize if you enjoyed Carpe Diem, but I feel this is better than letting it sit dormant. On a more positive note, I am so excited for this story! I have had the premise in my head for years now so I figured I should attempt it now. Also, Sable is everything so I hope you love her! I based this story around 'Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus' by Taylor Swift, if you want to listen for what you're in for. I plan for this story to be a short story that is about ten to fifteen chapters.
