What the fuck have I gotten myself into? Fuck. I want to scream so bad... but that wouldn't be a good idea in a dog park. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts. Let me think, I have to think... either he's a motherfucking charming playboy, or he's genuinely developing feelings for me. Fuck, why did I agree to Jae-suk's plan? I tried to tell him it's not a good idea earlier on the phone, but he didn't listen to me.
I need to talk to him personally, explain the situation, and then tell Torren that we know each other and everything's going to be fine, right? Ugh, I shouldn't care this much; I don't even like him. Sure, he does nice things for me and pays attention, but that's just part of the bare minimum.
So, I call Lu to help me and within half an hour, she arrives at the park.
Max immediately rushes to her. "Hey, sweet boy," she greets him. "I need to have a pep talk with your mom, go playing." She turns her attention to me, and I look at her overwhelmed with my whole situation, prompting her to pout. "Hey, what's wrong?"
Taking a seat beside me on the bench, she places iced coffee and a slice of cake between us. As I recount every detail of the situation, she listens attentively, her shock evident on her face.
In disbelief, she asks. "What the fuck did you get yourself into?" I asked myself the same fucking question.
"I know. I could so easily freak out right now," I sigh wearily. "I think I'm stupid."
"Oh, you just realized that?"
"What should I do?"
"Tell him the truth. He's obviously falling in love with you, and based on what you've told me, he doesn't sound like a fuckboy at all. I can tell you that."
"He will hate me."
Lu arches an eyebrow. "Why do you care if he ends up hating you? You told me you don't even like him. Or is it possible you do but just won't admit it?" She giggles.
"I don't," I assure her.
"Whether you like him or not, you should tell him. We'd hate it when someone would toy with our feelings, so we shouldn't do that to others."
"You're right," I sigh. "But how? How should I tell him?" I feel too overwhelmed right now.
"Just do it. You'll have to face the consequences. And if he leaves, he's an asshole who doesn't deserve you," she shrugs. "If you're really not interested in him, you got nothing to lose anyway. I'm here for you every step of the way, okay? No matter what happens, you're not alone... but what's the revenge exactly? I didn't get it."
I roll my eyes at Jae-suk's prank idea. "When Jae-suk came over, he noticed how annoyed I was. And when I told him about a guy, he was so interested in it because it was a long time since he saw me interact with a man, so he asked about him. When I mentioned the name, he was going crazy about the fact that it's his brother. He has been plotting revenge on ever since Torren pushed him out of an airplane."
"What?"
"It's not as bad as it sounds. Anyway, he had the brilliant idea that I should hire Torren after he already made the offer, because he wanted to see why his brother would do something like that-"
"What does he do for a living?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know?" Her voice tinges higher.
"I never asked, don't look at me like that. I know he got money though."
"Leyaaa..." she groans in exasperation before composing herself. "Continue."
