Sunoo woke to the sound of his phone buzzing relentlessly on the nightstand. He groaned, blinking against the sunlight pouring through his curtains. The unsettling messages still weighed on his mind, but the memory of yesterday's warmth with Niki brought a smile to his face. He grabbed the phone, hoping for a normal morning message from Niki.

But his heart sank as he read the latest text from the unknown number:

> "You can't escape what you are. The darkness will find you."

Sunoo's hands trembled slightly as he stared at the screen, the words reverberating in his mind. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. He wouldn't let this ruin the day. He had plans with Niki, and that was what mattered.

He quickly replied to Niki, trying to push the unease away:

> "Morning! Can't wait for our day together. Any ideas?"

After getting ready and forcing himself to eat a small breakfast, Sunoo felt a bit more grounded. He slipped on a casual outfit, a pair of fitted jeans and a soft sweater that hugged his frame, before heading out.

As he made his way to the café where they agreed to meet, the sun was bright, and the air was filled with the smell of fresh pastries and coffee. It felt like a new day, one full of possibilities.

Niki was already waiting for him, his usual bright smile making Sunoo's heart flutter.

"There you are! I was starting to think I'd have to come rescue you," Niki teased, his eyes sparkling.

"I wouldn't dream of keeping you waiting," Sunoo replied, his own smile blooming.

They sat at their favorite table, the conversation flowing effortlessly as they sipped their coffees. Sunoo found himself lost in Niki's laughter, his worries momentarily forgotten. They shared stories about their lives, their aspirations, and the silly things that made them happy.

After finishing their drinks, Niki leaned back, looking thoughtful. "So, how about we check out that new outdoor market? I heard they have a lot of unique crafts and food stalls."

Sunoo's heart raced at the thought of spending more time with Niki. "That sounds amazing! Let's go."

The market was vibrant, filled with colorful stalls and the sounds of laughter and chatter. As they wandered through, Niki's excitement was infectious. They tasted various foods, from sweet pastries to spicy street snacks, playfully competing over who could handle the spiciest dish.

As they explored, Sunoo felt a growing sense of comfort around Niki, an ease that pushed back the shadows threatening to creep into his thoughts. But every time his phone buzzed with a new message, a jolt of anxiety shot through him.

"You good?" Niki asked, concern etching his features as he noticed Sunoo flinch at another message.

"Yeah, just... my phone," Sunoo replied, forcing a smile. He couldn't let the darkness invade this moment.

After a while, they found a small quiet corner of the market, where handmade crafts were displayed, the air fragrant with flowers and the sounds of music drifting through.

Sunoo picked up a delicate ceramic piece, admiring the artistry. "This is beautiful," he said, turning to Niki. "It's like... it tells a story."

Niki looked at the piece and then back at Sunoo, his expression softening. "Just like you," he said, his voice sincere.

Sunoo felt his cheeks warm at the compliment. "What do you mean?"

"You have depth, Sunoo. You're not just a pretty face," Niki replied, his eyes piercing yet gentle. "I can see there's so much more to you."

The weight of Niki's words settled in Sunoo's chest, stirring something both comforting and terrifying.

"I just-" Sunoo began but was interrupted by a sudden commotion nearby. A group of teenagers burst into laughter, drawing their attention away from their moment.

"Let's check that out!" Niki said, his excitement infectious. Sunoo nodded, eager to keep the atmosphere light.

They moved toward the laughter and found a small stage where a local band was playing. The music was lively, and Niki's eyes lit up as he grabbed Sunoo's hand.

"Come on! Let's dance!" he exclaimed, pulling Sunoo into the small crowd.

Sunoo felt a rush of exhilaration as they joined the others, the music wrapping around them like a warm embrace. They swayed and laughed, lost in the rhythm of the moment. Niki's hand fit perfectly in his, and Sunoo couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging that he hadn't experienced in a long time.

As the song ended, they stumbled back, breathless and giggling. Niki leaned in closer, their faces inches apart. Sunoo could feel his heart pounding, the warmth of Niki's presence enveloping him.

"You're a good dancer," Niki teased, his breath warm against Sunoo's skin.

"I've had some practice," Sunoo replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

Just then, Sunoo's phone buzzed again. He reluctantly pulled it out, his heart dropping as he read another message:

> "I'm watching you. He won't save you."

His breath caught, the world around him fading into a blur. Niki's laughter echoed distantly as Sunoo fought against the tide of fear rising within him.

"Sunoo?" Niki's voice broke through his daze. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I just-" Sunoo stammered, trying to regain his composure. "I think I need some air."

Niki's expression shifted to concern, and he nodded, falling into step beside Sunoo as they moved away from the crowd. They found a quieter area of the market, the music faint but still present in the background.

Sunoo leaned against a wall, trying to catch his breath, the panic clawing at his chest. Niki stepped closer, his brow furrowed. "What's wrong?"

"It's just... I don't know, it's too much," Sunoo admitted, his voice trembling.

Niki placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "You can talk to me, you know that, right?"

Sunoo looked into Niki's eyes, searching for comfort. "It's just... I've been getting these messages, and they're unsettling. I don't want to ruin today."

Niki's expression softened further. "You won't ruin anything by being honest. I want to help you."

Sunoo's heart ached with the weight of Niki's concern, and he leaned closer, compelled by a mix of fear and longing. "I'm scared, Niki. Scared of what's happening, scared of losing you."

Niki reached out, brushing a strand of hair from Sunoo's forehead. "You won't lose me. I promise."

Their eyes locked, the moment stretching between them, filled with unspoken words. Sunoo felt an urge to lean in, to close the distance, but the fear nagged at him.

"You mean it?" Sunoo asked, his voice barely a whisper.

"I do," Niki replied, his voice steady. "I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere."

With that reassurance, Sunoo felt the tension within him begin to ease. He stepped closer, drawn by an invisible thread, and without thinking, he closed the gap between them.

Their lips met in a soft kiss, tentative at first, but then deepening as they melted into one another. Sunoo felt the warmth of Niki's body against his, grounding him in the moment as he pushed the shadows further away.

"See?" Niki murmured against his lips as they pulled back slightly, breathless. "We're in this together."

Sunoo's heart swelled with affection, his fears momentarily quieted by the connection they shared. "Thank you," he whispered, his gaze searching Niki's.

Niki smiled, and for the first time that day, Sunoo felt a flicker of hope. They were navigating the darkness together, and maybe, just maybe, they could find a way to overcome it.

But as they stood there, holding onto one another, the unsettling messages still loomed in Sunoo's mind, a reminder that the shadows were never too far behind.
