"𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 because of my personal relationship with the Lord. He gives me my strength and my guidance." Steven's father speaks.

"So what is that philosophy apply to your job as-well?" Callie asks.

"Well, a prison guard depends on his instincts, his skills and his strength, otherwise we'd get ourselves killed. My faith is my personal code." He replies to Callie.

"Defends tactics classes are required for all employees at the prison, right?" Rossi asks and Steven's father shakes his head.

"Did Steven follow in your footsteps? Did he look for God for strength and guidance?" Hotch asks.

"No, my troubles with Steven has...They have nothing to do with my faith. We belong to a very tolerant church. Sometimes too tolerant. I mean they teach that God loves everyone, despite their failings. " he responds.

"And you saw Steven's homosexual as a failing"Hotch asks.

"I'm a prison guard. And do you know how many times I've walked in on men together? Had to physically pull them apart? It was filthy. Well, it's filthy. I think he just wanted to do it to piss me off." He states.

"You're aware that we can't choose who or who not to fall for right?" Callie asks and he nods.

"You think your son's sexuality was a way to anger you?" Rossi asks.

"I was trying to save him."

"From what?" Hotch asks.

"From himself."

"And how were you trying to help him?" Hotch asks.

"I've been a guard for 20 years I know a little something about disciplining somebody." Steven's father states and Callie looks at the man in disbelief.

"Seriously?" She mutters.

"So, what, you thought you could beat homosexuality out of him?" Rossi asks furrowing his eyebrows.

"I don't like either of your tones." He states looking between Rossi and Callie.

"Shame." Callie says shrugging and Hotch gives her a look to knock it off with the one liners.

"Threatening this boy with tactics you use on hardened criminals, threatening him with his own life?" Rossi voices.

"I was teaching him how to be a man."

"No. You were teaching him how to kill one." Hotch states meeting the man's eyes.

"You convinced him he was worthless, contemptible for being who he was. And he believed you. So he found a way to become someone else, anyone else." Rossi speaks.
