"Damn for ONE book?" "You know inflations a bitch," I replied. Aimi rolls her eyes but can't suppress her grin as she hands me the book to scan. "At least Wattpad's still free" she says.

"Yeah, we know how much you need your Keeho fanfics." I tease

I finish inputting the price into the register. As the total flashed on the screen, Aimi leaned against the counter, and her dark hair fell around her shoulders. "You know... Nari and Ani are going to the club tonight you should come" she says, mentioning our roommates and best friends. "Uhh I can't. I have to study for my lab practice on Monday." "What about next week?" She asks, "I need the study for my anatomy test."

"And YOU also need to get out and have some fun sometimes before you're all old and sad," she points at me.

"I'm always having fun," I replied. She gives me a look. "I played with Pearl last night that was fun." I mentioned my cat.

"And what else?" He She raises an eyebrow my silence was her answer. "See? I know being a med student requires a lot, but you need to find time to enjoy yourself still," she said, sounding like my mother.

I huff "Fine, I'll go with yall tonight." Aimi's face breaks out into a smile. "Great, I'm going back home to get ready. Make sure to wear something nice." "Yeah sure" I hand her back the book.

"Bye," she waves, walking out. The door closes behind her with a small chime of its bell.

I could feel the boredom that came with working at the bookstore again. It was cozy and all with the scent of cinnamon rolls from the bakery around the corner, but basically deserted.

The only reason I work this job is to help pay for med school since my scholarships aren't enough. My parents offered to pay for me since they were rich, but I wanna be able to support myself.

I glance at the clock 4:53pm 2 more hours. 'Might as well get some work done' I take out my worksheets.

I take one last look at my outfit as I put in my earrings

Pearl comes over and meows softly as I pick her up and kiss her on the head. "I'll be home soon" I stroke her light gray fur gently.

"Nari, you ready?" I ask my other roommate. "Almost" she shouts back. I set down Pearl and took out my phone to scroll through YouTube.

As I'm scrolling down my home page, I see the news section, the first one titled "Violence Erupts in the Streets: Stray Kids Behind Recent Wave of Crime in Korea"

I click the video.

"𝙇𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙞–" I interrupt the lady by skipping the ad
