I Love You, I'm Sorry

The New Girl

*April 15th 2003*
*Danny's POV*

I was grabbing things out of my locker when Summer came up to me

"Hey," she said smiling, her voice like a melody.

"Hey," I replied, the tension in my shoulders easing, a smile involuntarily spreading across my face. Just seeing her made the morning's unpleasantness fade away.

"I was thinking," she began, her eyes shining with anticipation, "we could go see a movie or something later." Her enthusiasm was infectious, and I found myself grinning.

"Oh... yeah," I grinned, excitement bubbling up. "That would be fun. What movie?"

"I was thinking we could watch that new movie that just came out, *What A Girl Wants*," Summer suggested, her eyes twinkling.

"Yeah... we can watch that," I agreed, then my face fell slightly. "I have work after school... but um, we can go after that."

"Okay... well, I gotta get to class. I'll see you later," Summer said, her smile unwavering. "Bye, Danny."

"Bye," I replied, already anticipating the evening.

The bell rang, jolting me back to reality. My first class was Chemistry, thankfully one I shared with Quinn. At least I had someone to talk to.

Later, struggling with a particularly tricky problem, I turned to him. "Quinn, I'm confused. What am I doing wrong with this?" I asked, showing him my work.

He glanced at my paper, his brow furrowing in concentration. "Oh, that's simple. You just have to add all of that up and then divide by 15," he explained, a helpful smile on his face.

"Thanks," I said, relief washing over me.

The rest of Chemistry flew by in a blur I was talking to Brian and Val and Summer when Ethan, Summers ex, walked over to us

"Summer can we talk" he said

"Jesus Ethan... take a chill pill" Val said

"Suck it Val" Ethan annoyed "Summer, we really need to talk"

Summer looked at me nervously, I gotta go.. Ethan I'm sorry" she said walking away with Val,

I went to my locker to grab something, before I knew it I heard a loud commotion coming from the other end of the hall way, it was Brain and Ethan grabbing Quinn, they were going to throw home into the lake.

It didn't take long for other people to realize and people started running outside, including me. That's when this one girl started talking to me.

"What's going on" she said

"Seniors throw someone in the river every year, "stupid tradition"  I said with a small laugh

The girl looked at me shocked. "Are you Daniella Parker" she asked

"Yeah why" I said confused

She didn't answer and just walked away

"Weird" i thought to myself

That's when Summer walked up to me

"Who was that" she asked

"I don't know, she must be a new student or something" I said confused

Summer then changed the subject

"Who are they throwing in this time" she said with a small laugh

"Quinn" I said, "I feel kind of bad though he's so sweet"

"He'll be fine, I'm sure" Summer said smiling at me, she grabbed my hand "this tradition is so stupid" she said with a small laugh,

"I know" I said smiling at her
