My phone dings with a notification while my eyes are fixated at dad's face through bhai's MacBook.
"We don't go ways that are unsafe Aru. We're a simple family" his words make me instantly nod my head .
"I know there have been cameras all around you since the day we've had you, there's a life of luxury you live. Probably it's not normal for many people but we are a simple family. We don't hurt people"
I nod again, " I will never hurt anyone "
"We know that baby" mumma brings her face so close to the camera ,"he doesn't mean you will hurt but we're afraid you might get hurt being around people who are dangerous"
I exchange glances with bhai, he shrugs.
"We mean Him"
My heart does a loud thud inside my chest , only audible to me . As if I just jumped from a height .
"I'm sorry" I shift my gaze on my hands kept on my lap.
"Why sorry ? If you like him or --"
"No she doesn't mom and don't say that . What's there to like about him . Aru will marry a studious kinda simple guy"
I'm afraid , his kind of simple guy might one day take me for granted . Might suddenly start to insult me . Might break my heart .
But won't that be possible with the dangerous type ?
I shake my head , "I don't like him"
"So that's what I said stay away from them. Even if you have to stay away from Tina for that ."
"Okay" I nod .
"Bye dad" bhai bends to go closer to the device by hovering over my shoulder .
"Bye loves " I heat mumma before a ting sound .

I pull away and check the message , it's again from his number. My heart sinks while bhai looks at me confused.
"What's that" he pulls the phone away and turns the voice note on .
