Y/N had come to the Spring Court long after the evil fae queen Amarantha had cursed them to permanently wear masks on their faces until Lord Tamlin got a human girl to fall in love with him. So Y/N was one of the few fae in the beautiful court mask free. Which often had her wondering and sometimes picturing what the other fae may look like under their prisoning masks.
No one had her imagination working harder than the Spring Court's courtier Lucien Vanserra. The male she referred to as the mysterious fox. At least in her sketches of him anyway. The high fae had become a rather small obsession to her. Not in a creepy way but in a she'd wish he'd notice her way. She spent most of her free time sketching. A lot of sketches were inspired by Lucien. From sketches of his mask to his metal eye behind the mask, to her guessing what the male might look unmasked.
Over time Lord Tamlin did eventually meet a female human who hated fae. And surprisingly both she and Tamlin did fall for each other but he sent her away to protect her. Of course, Feyre being the type of person she was came back for him. Had not only died for him but for all the fae trapped under the evil queen's mountain. Of course, out of what she was hoping was gratitude all seven high lords gave a bit of their magic to bring her back as fae. Of course, once they were free Y/N went back to Spring. She wanted to help rebuild it. It was her home. During her time helping she wasn't around the manor much so she still had no idea what Lucien really looked but she would still sketch her mysterious fox from time to time. Soon she returned to the manor and settled in. She agreed to help around the manor. Cooking, cleaning, etc. One day she left her sketch pad on a table to help one of the cooks with something. Lucien was walking by and saw it. Not sure what it was he walked over to it and just leafed through it. His russet eye widened as he flipped through the pages. Someone had drawn pictures of or inspired by him.
One of them was of his mask on a pile of autumn leaves with springtime flowers mixed in. Another was a close up of his metal eye behind the fox mask. Another was of him unmasked. It was almost spot on from the color of both his normal and metal eye to the scars down his cheek. Y/N walked in and froze. She knew exactly who it was looking at her drawings. She cleared her throat softly. He turned a warm smile on his lips. Y/N's breath caught. She had never actually seen him unmasked. To say he was handsome was an understatement.
"Did you draw these?" he asked. She tried to speak but she couldn't form the words so she nodded. "They're beautiful," he said.
"Th-thank you," she stammered. He walked over to her handing her the sketchbook.
"May I ask your name?" he asked as she took the book.
"Y/N," she said.
"Y/N," he repeated, "Would it be ok if I kept a sketch?".
"Oh um Su-sure," she said, "Which one would you like?" Lucien smiled as he took the book and flipped to a sketch of him without the mask.
"Is this one ok?" he asked. She nodded as she carefully tore the page out of the pad and handed it to him. "Thank you Y/N," he said.
"You're welcome Lucien," she said shyly. He smiled.
"Maybe we can talk more over dinner sometime," he suggested before bowing to her and heading off.
