Chapter 1
ME!Jade Harper
Six months later...
I can't believe it. I just came from a contract signing with the TopSpot Records. Yes, I took the offer.
But, I'm still on cloud nine this is it I finally reach my dream. I'm living my dream of becoming a singer, and now I'm even getting noticed by a major record label in the country. Tapos ngayon ito. It feels amazing to see my dreams come true.
I slid into the nearest booth next to the window and waited for my best friend to arrive. Lined with cafes and restaurants that overflow the street, each exuding has it's own vibe. First, one of my favorite go to is pink blossom raspberry tea. No need to look at the menu because I knew exactly what i wanted. The other side of the window looks so refreshing I love watching all those buildings and cars pass by.
There's some soft music in the background, creating a mellow ambience. Several extra-long community tables designed for people to gather, tell tales over takeout dinners, work on their laptops or brainstorm new business concepts. It is a really beautiful, welcoming space to relax and spend time in.
As I waited for my tea, let me tell you who I am my name is Jade Harper Abrams, I'm twenty-five years old, before TopSpot Records discovered me. I'm playing four gigs a week at The Midnight Bloom for three weeks, but my sessions only last a few hours, which means I have a lot of time to record myself and upload a cover song to my YouTube channel. The crowds at The Midnight Bloom and to my YouTube channel are friendly and welcoming, pero iba pa rin talaga mag perform sa appreciative audience.
Syempre, I smile back.
"So, how was it?"
Laughing merrily "Nakapag sign na ako ng contract and they already want me to have a single" sabi ko.
Pearl smiling from ear to ear "Oh my! Ang saya, ang saya ko para sayo."
"Who would have thought na after many years you are finally living your dream"
I smile. I grabbed the tall glass of pink blossom raspberry tea and gulped it all up.
Six months ago. It's really the right time.
"So, kailan yung start ng recording mo?" She said, and grabbed her ice coffee and take a sip.
"Sasabihin nalang daw sakin ni Ate Willa"
"So proud of you girl, mga paalala ko ha" She said.
Namatay kasi siya dahil sa brain aneurysm nung fifteen years old ako at si Mommy naman ay nasa ibang bansa at that time until now with her new family. Buti na nga lang at andyan si Pearl and her family, and of course Willa. Sila ang naging second parents ko.
"Hoy!
My pleasant thoughts were interrupted by Pearl. Instead of smiling, I pursed my lips.
"I'm sorry..." I sheepishly smiled at her.
"May naalala lang ako—"Pagkatapos namin magcatch up ni Pearl we decided na umalis na ng coffee shop kasi may errands pa daw siyang aasikasuhin kaya ito paalis na kami.
"Hatid mo ko sa condo"
She glance at me habang naglalakad kami papunta sa sasakyan niya. "Of course, wala ka namang dalang car ano pa nga ba."
I chuckled.
Pearl Violet Cierra is my best friend.
She's my best friend ever since we were kids. Her mom was my mom's best friend kaya since then palagi na ako na sa kanila kasi doon ako madalas iwan ni Mommy kapag pupunta nanaman siyang ibang bansa para mag work. That time Daddy is a great singer. It was obvious that my love for music came from my dad and of course to him.
"Please Harper take care of yourself, okay?"
I gave her a smile bago pumasok sa condo building. When I entered the building, the receptionist greeted me with a smile as I walked through the marble floor of the lobby with giant crystal chandeliers hanging above us.
Auntie Missy Pearl's mom offered me few times to stay in their house. Pero, hindi ko tinanggap kasi ayoko, nakakahiya na madami na silang naitulong sa'kin since day one halos lumaki na nga ako sa kanila. So, that's when I started earning from doing gigs, uploading videos on YouTube and part time, I bought one of the unit in this building as a gift for myself five months ago. To be honest, it was a nice place.
I took a long shower to ease my mind about things. While showering with the warm water, I closed my eyes and just letting the water touch my skin as if it's helping me to calm my mind and my whole system.
After the shower, I dried my brown hair with a soft towel and slipped into a comfortable pajamas. I opened my laptop while facing the glass window.
I opened the recent search tab and his face automatically popped on the screen. Cyprien Grant Cuna a Filipino singer - songwriter, known as the most famous OPM singer. Smiling. But there's only one thing I wanted to ask.
