In the heart of every great story lies a journey—one filled with trials, triumphs, and transformations. This book, at its core, explores the universal themes of overcoming adversity, discovering self-worth, and the undeniable power of love. Though these themes resonate with many, they hold a deeply personal significance for me. Writing this story was not just an act of creativity but a reflection of a lifetime of experiences, struggles, and victories. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the healing power of love.
The inspiration for this book is rooted in my own life. Growing up in a broken home, surrounded by a volatile and hostile environment, I found solace in the love my real father showed me—a love that became the foundation for the King in this story. His unwavering care, much like the love of Christ, guided me through my darkest days. The mother figure in this tale is inspired by a deep-seated hope in a nurturing and compassionate love, a beacon of light in a world often overshadowed by pain. As a child, I would picture a small, safe space in my mind where I could escape from the chaos around me. This became the inspiration for Ava's secret place, a refuge where she could gather her strength to face the monsters and canyons of life—a journey that mirrors my own path to becoming the woman I am today.
My daughters, though vastly different from one another, were the spark that brought Ava's character to life. Both headstrong and opinionated, yet with hearts full of love and a willingness to serve, they embody the strength and compassion that define Ava. My son, ever the jokester and peacekeeper, has been a constant light in my life, brightening even the darkest days. And my husband, a large, rugged man with a heart of gold, inspired the character of Harvan—strong, tough, but with a deep well of love and loyalty.
The writing journey has been long and filled with challenges, but also immensely rewarding. What began as a simple idea four years ago—a reflection of a place I wished for as a child—has blossomed into an entire world, rich with wonder and beauty. Crafting the characters, their lives, the lands they inhabit, and the creatures they encounter has been a labor of love. As I wrote the final chapter, I found myself with tears in my eyes, reluctant to say goodbye to the characters who had become so dear to me.
My hope is that readers will find in this story the importance of perseverance, the sustaining power of hope, and the transformative nature of love. Ava's journey is one of redemption and forgiveness, including the often-overlooked act of forgiving oneself. She learns that life, though fraught with challenges, has a purpose—even if that purpose is to help others who face similar struggles.
My faith is the compass that guides me, and it is woven into the fabric of this story. It is a tale of redemption, of choosing love over darkness, and of finding strength in vulnerability. Ava's journey may echo the struggles faced by many, but it is her unwavering love and determination that offer a path to healing and hope.
To the readers who have chosen to embark on this journey with me, thank you. I am excited for you to discover Ava's world and to walk alongside her as she navigates the trials and triumphs of her life.
As I close this preface, I reflect on what this story means to me as its author. It is more than just a tale; it is a piece of my heart, a reflection of my life's journey, and a message of hope to those who need it most. With this, I invite you to step into the world of Michrinor, to experience the magic, the battles, the love, and the redemption that await within its pages.
Welcome to Ava's world—may it inspire, comfort, and uplift you as it has done for me.
