I took another sip of my beer, letting the cold fizz linger on my tongue as I watched my friends chat, laugh, and occasionally throw curious glances my way. It was one of those easy nights out, the kind where the hours slip by without anyone noticing.

But of course, Yoko had been itching to drop some details about my relationship with Wednesday.

"Damn, and here I thought you'd finally settled down," Divina teased, smirking as she leaned back in her seat.

I rolled my eyes, suppressing a grin. "What can I say? She got the best of me."

Yoko snorted. "Oh please, Enid, the whole time you've been acting like this wasn't the endgame. You're practically obsessed over her for months."

I tried to hide my smile behind my glass, but I couldn't help it. It was true, Wednesday had been on my mind for as long as I could remember. .

And now... now she is mine. It felt surreal.

Meanwhile, across the table, Kent was frowning at his phone, his brows drawn in concentration.

He seemed distracted, tapping his screen impatiently, and finally muttered under his breath, "Why is he not replying...?"

I looked over, raising an eyebrow. "Who's giving you trouble?"

"Tyler," he replied, his tone a bit annoyed. "I texted him to come join us tonight, but he's gone silent."

I felt my stomach drop, my pulse quickening. I hadn't expected anyone here to be on close terms with him, much less enough to notice his absence. Quickly, I forced a casual expression, trying not to let my surprise show.

Kent sighed, setting his phone down on the table. "Guess he's busy. If he doesn't text back soon, maybe I'll just head over to his place and see what's up."

I felt my grip tighten around my beer, my heart pounding. The front door at Tyler's place was locked, and everything had been left meticulously in order... or so I thought.

My mind raced, silently counting the ways my plan could unravel if Kent followed through. I leaned back in my chair, adopting the most nonchalant posture I could muster.

"I'm sure he'll come around," I said, keeping my tone light. "He probably just forgot his phone somewhere."

Kent shrugged, looking back at his screen with a sigh. "Maybe. I mean, it's Tyler. Always disappearing or getting sidetracked."

I let out a small breath, my pulse settling as the conversation drifted to other topics.

Yoko nudged my arm, giving me a knowing smirk.

"Can't believe you're the one who landed Wednesday Addams, of all people," she teased. "Guess you're finally moving up in the world."

I laughed, grateful for the change of subject. "What can I say? She has high standards."

But as the night went on, and as the beers continued to flow, I found my mind wandering back to Tyler. That lingering fear that someone might uncover the truth.

That my peace with Wednesday might not last if anyone looked too closely. I took another long drink, hoping the alcohol would drown out the nagging worry.

No one's going to find him, I told myself firmly. Tyler is gone forever. And no one needs to know.
________

I followed him at a safe distance, my heartbeat quickened as I watched Kent's movements closely. He was on a mission to find Tyler, and I couldn't risk him discovering the truth.

The mere thought of anyone stumbling upon what I'd done sent a shiver down my spine. I needed to know if he suspected anything and I needed to make sure my secret stayed buried.
