Time was running out... the group didn't have long to find and rescue Sumire, but they didn't have a single lead, no clue, just nothing.
Kawaki, Mitsuki and Kagura were still stuck in the jungle, while Boruto and Sarada were still in the north.

"Hello Boruto and Sarada, Mitsuki, Kagura and I haven't found anything in the jungle. We're going back now," said Kawaki.

"Yes, I understand, we'll get there, but we have to hurry," said Boruto.

"Yes, of course, we'll meet at the Mizukagen building," said Kawaki.

"Yeah, see you in a bit," Boruto replied.

Mitsuki, Kagura and Kawaki ran through the jungle to find a way to escape. They ran back the way they came.

"It's much too slow," sighed Kawaki.

"Don't despair Kawaki, we're almost at the bridge and then we just have to go to the Mizukagen building," said Kagura.

"How can I not despair? It's about Sumire, she's been missing for hours and her life is in danger!", Kawaki hissed back.

Kawaki simply couldn't believe how Kagura could say such words without worrying. Sumire had been in the grip of this guy for hours and he was not afraid of anything. The circumstances alone made Kawaki crazy and irritable.

Sorry Kawaki," said Kagura.

"Shove it," Kawaki replied.

"What's wrong with you now?" asked Kagura.

Kawaki stopped and turned round, his gaze so sharp that he felt he could look into Kagura's soul.

"What's wrong with me? My girlfriend has been missing since this morning and is in the hands of a sick psycho and you're making such shitty comments. You've seen for yourself what this perpetrator is capable of, he wants to see Sumire suffer and die," said Kawaki and grabbed Kagura by the collar.

Kawaki, Kagura, stop it! That won't help Sumire either, we'd better hurry or we won't stand a chance!" Mitsuki shouted. He pulled Kawaki away from Kagura..

,,Mitsuki, you're right, but I'm not going to apologise," Kawaki hissed and ran forward.

"And Kagura, you shouldn't talk to Kawaki like that, Sumire is the love of his life. She's the person who warmed and healed his heart, if she dies, his inner self dies too," Mitsuki said and then followed Kawaki.

Mitsuki's words made Kagura understand a lot more, he didn't know what Sumire had meant to Kawaki. He hardly knew Kawaki, but now he had more understanding.

Kagura collected himself and then followed Mitsuki and Kawaki. When he finally caught up with them, all three were standing in front of the river with the broken bridge hanging over it.

"What do we do now?" Kagura asked.

"Why don't we just walk over it? That's what chakra control is for," Mitsuki suggested.

"Yep, sounds good," said Kawaki.

The three boys concentrated their chakra into their feet and took one step after the other. Their concentration couldn't waver a bit, they couldn't be distracted.
Kawaki, who still had problems with chakra control, had great respect for it. He was afraid of being distracted.

Fortunately, everything went well and all three arrived safely on the shore.

At the Mizukagen building

The tower clock struck 1 p.m. Both groups had had to deal with unexpected complications and had lost a lot of time as a result.
But could they make up for it? Did they stand a chance?
