The War for Dragonstone and the End of Dragaryan Power (270 AC - 298 AC)

The year 270 AC saw the beginning of the War for Dragonstone, a conflict that would ultimately decide the fate of House Dragaryan. Vaegon Dragaryan, the new ruler of Dragonstone, found himself embroiled in a brutal struggle to defend his lands from external threats. The war culminated in Vaegon's death, and the throne of Dragonstone was passed to Jaehaerys Dragaryan. However, Jaehaerys' reign was short-lived, as he was assassinated by a bastard descendant of Daeron, known as Daemon Blackfyre. Daemon, one of the last modern dragon riders, brought an end to the Dragaryan hold on Dragonstone, leaving the house in shambles.

In the aftermath of the war, House Dragaryan was left fractured and leaderless. The last vestiges of their power were held by Aegon the Wyvern, the son of Gaemon Dragaryan. Aegon, a skilled warrior and dragon rider, became the most powerful member of House Dragaryan. However, in a shocking revelation in 298 AC, it was discovered that Gaemon was a descendant of Daemon of Pentos, whose house had lost Pentos many years prior. This revelation cast doubt on Aegon's legitimacy and further eroded the Dragaryan influence.

By 300 AC, the once-proud House Dragaryan had been reduced to a shadow of its former self. The last landed descendant of Baelon II and Rhaegal, Lord Vaegon of the Stepstones, was all that remained of their once-mighty line. Meanwhile, Peremore Footly, the last member of House Silverwing and the reigning King of the Iron Throne, struggled to maintain his grip on power.

The Legacy of the Dragon Houses

The history of the dragon houses from 192 AC to 300 AC is a tale of rise and fall, of power gained and lost. The Targaryens, once the rulers of the Seven Kingdoms, were dethroned and replaced by the Footly dynasty. The Dragaryans, once formidable warriors and dragon riders, saw their influence wane as they lost their lands and dragons. House Silverwing, founded by King Russell Footly, emerged as a new power, but even they struggled to maintain their position in the ever-changing landscape of Westeros.

As the year 300 AC dawns, the era of the dragons seems to be drawing to a close. The last dragon riders are few, and the once-mighty beasts that ruled the skies are now little more than legends. The future of the dragon houses is uncertain, and their fate hangs in the balance as the Seven Kingdoms stand on the brink of a new age.
