It's been a few weeks since I arrived in Bangkok, and I'm starting to think it was fate. That everything bad that happened to me in the past led me here. I began to think that life isn't so bad after all. It's been almost three weeks since I started working for Jay. I enjoyed working for him. The bartenders taught me how to make beautiful, colorful non-alcoholic drinks, and Jay's band was a group of pleasant young men who constantly talked about music, and I soaked up every word. I discovered that music is my new hobby, and I decided to learn to play a musical instrument. Since my parents' death, I had always been saving and trying to earn money, but I decided that I should start doing something for myself.
Another change was that I went back to school. I joined the same class as Nat, and I managed to avoid all the awkward questions about why I started in the middle of the year. Because I had always been a good student, I quickly gained the teachers' favor, and thanks to how Nat integrated me into his group of friends, I had my own group for the first time in my life.
But I got along best with Nat. Sometimes I was afraid I was a burden to him, that I relied on him too much, and I told him this frankly, which he immediately dismissed. He was also an orphan, with only an uncle who had recently entered a temple as a monk, and Nat had always longed for siblings because he hated being alone. That's one of the reasons he worked at Jay's club, who was an old friend of Nat's uncle and thus kept an eye on the boy.
Another big change in NuNew's life was accommodation. He accepted Nat's offer and moved in with him. Given his newfound love for music, it was practically a lottery win.
Nat lived in a small two-story house in the city center. There were two apartments on the first floor. Nat lived in one apartment, and now Nunew did too. Each had their own room, and there was also a small living room connected to the kitchen. In the neighboring apartment lived the house owner, Porchay, with his little son. On the ground floor was a music instrument shop that Porchay owned. Porchay also loved music and had a special room with instruments and a small sound room in the back of the shop, which he lent to students preparing for exams or just for fun. Porchay was of university age but didn't attend school, saying he was waiting for his son to grow up a bit.
It really seemed as if my world was finally in order. Except for the food. I still hadn't gotten used to the local cuisine; my stomach was constantly uneasy.
I was sitting in the hospital room, waiting for the doctor. I've been in Bangkok for almost three months now and still have problems with food. Practically everything I eat, I throw up. Nat has urged me several times to see a doctor, but I always managed to make excuses. Today, I might have overdone it and fainted at the Gemini club. I remember taking off my jacket, which fell to the ground, and when I bent down to pick it up, everything went dark. I was out for just a few minutes, but Jay wouldn't let me return to work. After Nat told him I was sick and kept vomiting, Jay and Nat put me in the car and literally drove me to the doctor.
It took almost an hour before the doctor approached me. "We did your blood tests, and congratulations. You're expecting a child." I didn't hear anything else because I fainted again.
I was lying on the bed in my room, staring at the ceiling. In my hand, I had a crumpled paper from the hospital, confirming that I wasn't alone. That now there was someone I was responsible for. I heard a light knock and a quiet voice asking for permission to enter. I grunted in agreement and heard the door open. I turned my head to the side and saw Porchay and Nat.
"I made you some broth; you need to get something in you," said Porchay. I nodded and rolled out of bed. I put the hospital paper on the desk.
"Are you okay?" Porchay asked me. I nodded but couldn't look at him.
"I don't know the background of your story, but I've been in this situation too. If you want to talk, I'm here for you."
I quietly finished the soup and felt a little better. I told Porchay and Nat that I wanted to talk to them, and they waited silently for me to start. We moved to the couch, and Porchay made me some tea.
"I won't go into details. But I found my Mate, even though we never said it, even though we never had anything together. Then one day, he started yelling at me in front of the whole school that I was a dirty omega and that I was messing around with everyone, and that day he declared he was breaking our Bond. That week was my birthday, and my friend James forced me to go to the club. I don't remember much, just that James kept pouring shots into me, and I didn't resist much. I remember he left me there, and I woke up the next day in bed next to my ex-Mate. I couldn't go back to school and see him, so I decided to leave, and I ended up here."
When I finished, Nat hugged me with tears in his eyes. Porchay patted me on the leg. "You've had it tough, but let it go. That person doesn't matter anymore. I did the same with Liam's father, and we're doing fine."
"Porchay, can I handle this? I'm sixteen. I'm scared. What if this child reminds me of him, and I end up hating it? What if I'm a bad parent?"
"Don't worry, NuNew. I was seventeen when I got pregnant, and my brother helped me a lot. You have me and Nat; we'll help you with everything. Don't worry, you'll love the child. Of course, it's up to you whether you want to keep it or not; it's your body, your choice."
During the few months I've been in Bangkok, my life has changed drastically. Due to my situation, I had to quit working for Jay because I wasn't allowed to carry heavy things to avoid endangering the baby. To be precise, babies. At the first sonogram, I found out I was expecting twins. Instead of the bar, I started working in Porchay's shop. Music grew on me, and I could sing and try different instruments while working. When I had free time, I borrowed Porchay's back room and learned to play the drums using various YouTube tutorials. Porchay even started teaching me to play the guitar and praised me for how well I was doing. When my pregnancy became too visible, I arranged with the school to switch to home schooling, with the agreement that I would only come to school for exams. Nat was sad, saying school was boring without me, but I personally felt like a balloon, after all, carrying two children is quite a load.
With Porchay's help, I even started my own YouTube channel, where I performed as Kirin. I didn't have the courage to let a bunch of strangers see me, so I preferred to wear a mask so no one would recognize me. I started doing covers of various songs, and it was a lot of fun. Sometimes I tried singing and playing something original, and I received only positive feedback.
Life was great again.
Porchay and Nat were cooking dinner, and I was playing with Liam. The last few months had been wonderful. Nat, Porchay, and even Liam had been a great support, and I felt like I had found my family. Suddenly, I felt a pain in my lower abdomen.
"Porchay!"
"What's happening?"
"I think the babies want to see the world," I said, frightened. Porchay took my hand and slowly led me to the door while Nat took care of Liam.
It took hours, but the babies were finally born. I named my daughter Anan and my son Aiden. Anan was peace for my soul, and Aiden was a little fire from the first moment. I was looking forward to our life together.
