Orm's pov:

The sound of a shrilling alarm jolted me awake, my eyes snapping open in surprise. I sat up with a start, my heart racing as I blearily glanced at the clock on my nightstand.

"Damnit, I'm late!" I muttered under my breath, throwing off the covers and scrambling out of bed.

I stumbled into the bathroom, my mind racing. I quickly brushed my teeth and splashed water on my face, then began the chaotic process of getting ready for work.

I rummaged through my closet, tossing garments left and right until I managed to put together a semi-decent office outfit. I hastily slipped into a skirt and a blazer struggling with the buttons in my haste.

As I navigated through the early morning traffic, I couldn't help but think back to the previous night. I had gotten carried away playing video games. The hours had slipped by unnoticed, and now I was facing the consequences of my lack of sleep.

I glanced at the clock on the dashboard of my car, the red digital numbers seemed to be silently mocking me. I was definitely going to be late for the morning briefing.

As I pulled into the parking lot of the building, a wave of nerves washed over me. This was my first day at the job, and despite my father's influence, I wanted to prove myself capable of handling the role.

I took a moment to collect myself, taking a deep breath as I looked at the impressive facade of the building. The towering glass and steel structure exuded an aura of success and innovation. It was both awe-inspiring and intimidating.

Despite the early morning hours, the lobby of the building was bustling with activity. Employees hurried to their offices, coffees in hand, while a few lingered near the reception desk, discussing the day's agenda.

As I moved through the crowd, I couldn't help but think about the current CEO, a brilliant and formidable woman who was well-known for her relentless dedication to her work. My father had mentioned her, describing her as a no-nonsense individual who prioritized the company's success above all else.

I couldn't help but feel a flutter of nerves as I approached the her office.

My heart pounded in my chest as I waited for a response, my mind racing with a mixture of anxiety and determination. After a few moments, a cool voice called out from inside.

"Come in."

The door swung open, revealing a spacious office with an expansive view of the city. And there, seated behind a large desk, was the woman herself. I took in her cold and composed demeanor, her sharp features framed by a curtain of raven locks. It was undeniably the CEO.

Lingling Kwong, the CEO, sat behind her desk like a queen on her throne. Her icy gaze met mine, her eyes scanning me up and down with a steely indifference.

She seemed to assess my worth, her lips curling into a slight frown as if she had found me wanting.

"You're late," Ms. Kwong stated coldly, her voice detached and almost bored.

I stood there, feeling small under the CEO's cold and authoritative gaze. Her voice was like a cold winter chill, sending a shiver down my spine.

"I apologize," I managed to utter, my voice barely above a whisper. "I got caught in traffic."

Ms. Kwong remained silent, her slender fingers steepled together as she continued to assess me. The only sound in the room was that of the clock ticking away on the wall.
