TW: Brief description of blood & wounds

The first month and a half of your fifth year flurried by. As it turned out, Hagrid was a brilliant teacher, and you spent his classes studying a more hands-on approach. You'd spent the final weeks before the Halloween break caring for a group of Flobberworms, and despite the distraction of Fred and George trying to train one to fling mucus at Snape (they had George dress in a dark cape and smelly wig and enticed the flobberworm with a head of lettuce) you'd completed the assignment with top marks. Hagrid promised to introduce your class to a much more interesting creature after the October break.

Just as Hagrid did, Lupin proved to be the best Defence Professor you had yet. In your first class with him, he'd introduced you to a very harmless but certainly frightening magical creature.

You stumbled in, with Fred's arm draped lazily over your shoulder and George's arm looped through your own, to the classroom, gathering your quill and parchment ready. Lupin entered the room, looking as dishevelled and exhausted as he did on the first day and beamed at your class.

"Good afternoon," he said. "Would you please put all your books back in your bags. Today's will be a practical lesson. You will only need your wands."

Curious looks were exchanged and Lee cheered from across the classroom. Fred and George grinned at each other from over your head.

"Sounds like we're finally going to learn how to defeat a dark lord," smirked George.

"Snape won't know what hit him," Fred chuckled. You rolled your eyes and shuffled out from their arms, pulling your want out of your pocket.

"No, we're going to learn something that I'll undoubtedly have to teach you two about sixteen times over, until you completely forget it. Then I'll have to save your arses if Merlin forbid we actually encounter something dark," you sighed, walking forward to follow Lupin, who beckoned your class through the corridors.

The class followed Lupin down several winding corridors, excitement sparking through the students. As you reached a disused classroom, Lupin ushered everyone inside. At the front of the room stood a large, old wardrobe, its door rattling slightly, as if something inside was eager to get out.

Lupin gestured for everyone to gather around. "Inside this wardrobe," he began, voice calm but engaging, "is a creature that likes to hide in dark, enclosed spaces. It's known as a boggart."

He turned to face the class, his eyes glinting with quiet anticipation. "Now, who here can tell me what a boggart is?"

Your hand shot up instinctively. Lupin nodded at you, a hint of a smile tugging at his mouth.

"A boggart is a shape-shifter," you explained, a little thrill running through you as you answered. "It takes the form of whatever it thinks will scare us the most. They're tricky because everyone sees something different."

"Excellent," Lupin praised, nodding in approval. "Five points to Ravenclaw." Fred and George gave you playful nudges, clearly impressed by your quick answer.

"But there's a way to defeat it, of course," Lupin continued, his tone lightening. "The charm you'll need is quite simple: Riddikulus. The aim is to force the boggart into something amusing. Laughter is what weakens it most."

The class murmured excitedly, and Lupin smiled, lifting his wand. "I'll demonstrate first. Watch closely."

He flicked his wand at the wardrobe, and the door burst open. A moment later, a dark, stormy cloud filled the room, crackling with thunder and a full, white moon appeared. You cocked your head curiously- who was afraid of the moon?
