Although this is a self-insert book, I do have to make a choice for the House that your character is sorted into. I have chosen to sort this character into Ravenclaw, as I felt that I don't tend to see many fanfictions with the o/c as one. I also might be biased, since I'm one myself, but we are the best house in Hogwarts. Caw Caw.
If you want your o/c to be in a different house, there really isn't much that is specific to Ravenclaw, other than the name and a few descriptions of common rooms, colours & Quidditch; it should be easy enough to use a POV replacer and change a few words here and there for yourself. This, however, won't work if you want to be a Gryffindor: the o/c will be using a very special map to uncover secret passageways between the house common rooms, meaning that they can sneak into a particular red headed boy's dorm room...
I am re-reading the books as I go along and write this, so that I can make my story as canonically accurate as possible and include some real dialogue from the books & films. I won't be referencing anything from: the Cursed Child, Fantastic Beasts or Hogwarts Legacy. I own all of these and they look very pretty on my Harry Potter shelf, but I won't be using them to write as not everyone considers them canon.

A playlist of classic 70s & 80s songs, the kind of music I think Mr Weasley would play on an old muggle radio whilst the twins and Y/N are dunking each other in the lake and experimenting with exploding sweets. Happy, soft & melodic. The sounds of childhood under the warm sun.
Running through the halls
Some more modern 90s music thrown in the mix. Upbeat and loud, exactly what would be blasting through Fred's head as he grabs your hand and races away from Filch after shoving dung bombs in his desk draw. Heart pounding & excited laughter that bounces off the walls of the Hogwarts Castle.
Need me, then
Gut-wrenching melodies with poetic, soul-destroying lyrics. The kind of songs that make you want to sit in the dark and sob until you're numb, questioning everything you've ever known. For when the rain is falling, heavy and without pause, the two of you caught in the fists of miscommunication and heartbreak.
Slow dancing in the Common Room
This one doesn't need a description.
The Yule Ball
Classical pieces combined with the Goblet of Fire soundtrack and a few modern party bops sprinkled in. The glittering winter decorations, the soft sound of string instruments. His hand on your waist as he leads you through a slow dance and the lingering looks of adoration that sends your eyes to the floor and the blood to your cheeks. Could there be anything more romantic than tonight?
