"Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" Ginny's high-pitched voice pierced through your peaceful slumber, and your very tired eyes snapped open to the bright light of Christmas morning. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" she continued to squeal as she leapt onto your bed, jumping up and down with too much energy for this early hour.
"I'm up," you groaned, pulling the thick quilt over your head in a desperate attempt to escape the noise. You dreamily thought about getting just a few more minutes of precious sleep, but then you were suddenly reminded of the early morning when the twins had woken you up to rescue Harry. How had that been three months ago? It felt like it had just happened yesterday.
Ginny jumped on top of you. She found your shoulders beneath the blanket and shook you vigorously.
"Gerroff," you mumbled, gently pushing her over into a giggling pile of ginger hair and pink pyjamas beside you. You pulled the quilt down slightly to peek out, and you couldn't help but burst into a wide smile when your eyes met her excited, beaming face.
Hermione's tired but enthusiastic voice chimed in from your other side. "Come on, Y/N. It's Christmas."
You rolled onto your back, letting out a light laugh as you finally dragged yourself into a sitting position. You stretched, yawning loudly, the sleeves of Fred's hoodie flopping over your hands. Your cheeks flushed a bright red when you realised that you were still wearing it. You faintly remembered bunching the fabric up to your nose last night, letting the familiar comfort of Fred's smoky and sweet scent lull you to sleep.
"I'm not going to say anything about you wearing my brother's hoodie because I want to open my presents," said Ginny impatiently. You chuckled and swung your legs out of the bed, the cold chill of the December morning sending goosebumps up your skin.
"Okay, let's go," you said sleepily. "But remember I'll have to pop back to my dorm to grab my presents."
Ginny squealed and Hermione grabbed your hand, the two young girls dragging you through the door and down the cold stone steps towards the festive, warm common room.
You were surprised to see that the twins, Ron, Harry and Percy were already awake and politely waiting by their piles of presents. Honestly, you'd completely forgotten Percy was even here.
"Finally," Ron moaned, shaking his head as the three of you wandered into the room. "We've been waiting for bloody ages."
Hermione sighed and rolled your eyes as she let go of your hand. "Ronald, that is a complete lie and you know it. Ginny woke you up straight after she got Fred and George up, and that wasn't even five minutes ago."
You laughed, watching Ron's expression as you walked over to the twins, sitting yourself down between them.
"Merlin's dirty pants, Y/N, you look dreadful," George said, taking in your unbrushed hair and crumpled up pyjama trousers.
"Gee, Merry Christmas to you too, George," you yawned as you shoved him playfully, a small grin growing on your lips.
"At least you're wearing a very nice top," Fred remarked, that familiar mischievous glint in his eye. "I must say, it's ever so fashionable. Where did you find such a magnificent jumper?"
You met his gaze with a bright smile. "In a bin. Merry Christmas, Fred."
He chuckled, winking at you as his fluffed-up red hair flopped over one eye. "Merry Christmas, N/N."
A warmth spread through your cheeks, and for a fleeting moment, your heart did what felt like a tiny little flip. You opened your mouth, ready with a snarky reply, but Ginny beat you to it.
