He felt uncertain for a moment, unsure how to proceed. With a sigh, he helped her to her feet and guided her to the bed, ensuring she was comfortable.

"Just stay here for a second," he said gently, reaching for his phone to call Chloe or one of the other teachers to help Daisy get to her room. He knew he'd have to have a talk with her about this later, but for now, he wanted to make sure she was safe.

After making sure Daisy was settled, Mr. Carter stepped out of his room and almost immediately saw Chloe hurrying down the hallway, looking worried.

"Mr. Carter!" she said, relief washing over her when she saw him. "Have you seen Daisy? She was supposed to go to her room, but she just disappeared."

Mr. Carter nodded, giving her a reassuring smile. "She accidentally came to my room instead. Don't worry, she's fine, just... a bit out of it. I think she's had a long night."

Chloe sighed, half-amused and half-exasperated. "That sounds like Daisy. I'll take her back to our room."

Together, they returned to Mr. Carter's room, where Daisy was slumped peacefully on the bed, her breathing even. Chloe chuckled softly. "She looks like she's out for the night."

Mr. Carter gave a small, understanding nod. "Make sure she gets some rest. And maybe keep an eye on each other next time?"

Chloe grinned sheepishly. "Yes, sir."

Carefully, she helped Daisy up and, with Mr. Carter's help, got her back to their room. Once inside, Chloe gently lowered Daisy onto her bed, pulling the covers over her. Daisy shifted slightly, mumbling something incoherent before falling back into a deep sleep.

Chloe climbed into her bed, exhausted, and within moments, they were both fast asleep, like two peaceful children.

The sun began to rise, casting a soft golden light over the campsite. At 6 AM, the camp staff started gently waking the students, encouraging them to pack their belongings for the next adventure. The sound of rustling bags and sleepy murmurs filled the air as everyone prepared for the day ahead.

Daisy stirred in her bed, the events of the previous night slowly coming back to her. She groaned softly, rubbing her eyes as she sat up, glancing around the room to find Chloe already awake and folding her clothes. "Morning, sleepyhead!" Chloe chirped, her usual energy brightening the atmosphere.

"Morning," Daisy replied, still feeling a bit groggy. She quickly joined in, throwing her things into her bag, ready to embrace the day.

Once everyone had gathered outside, the staff began to do a headcount. The students were buzzing with excitement, some laughing and recounting stories from the night before, while others shared nervous anticipation for the hike ahead.

After about an hour of travel, the bus finally arrived at the hiking spot. The students disembarked, greeted by a stunning landscape of towering trees and rugged trails stretching into the distance. Fresh air filled their lungs, and the smell of pine surrounded them.

"Wow, this place is amazing!" Chloe exclaimed, her eyes wide with wonder as she took in the scenery.

Liam, standing nearby with his friends, grinned. "Can't wait to hit the trails. Let's see who can keep up!"

As the students gathered around, their teacher clapped her hands to get everyone's attention. "Alright, everyone! Listen up!" she called, her voice cutting through the morning chatter. "For the hiking trip, I need you to take only what you need for the hike and tonight. The rest of your things will stay on the bus, and you can pick them up tomorrow evening. Remember, the less you carry, the better. We don't want anyone struggling up the hill with too much luggage!"

A chorus of groans and skeptical looks spread through the crowd. "Seriously?" one student muttered. "We have to carry our own stuff?"

Another chimed in, "What if I need my pillow?"

Liam laughed at the various reactions. "Just bring the essentials! We're not climbing Everest here."

Once they set off, the group walked along the trail, the excitement palpable. As they reached a fork in the path, Liam turned to his friends. "Hey, what if we take a shortcut up the left trail?" he suggested, pointing to a steep, less-trodden path.

One of his friends raised an eyebrow, a smirk on his face. "You mean the path that leads to nowhere? You want to end up like those people in that horror movie 'Wrong Turn'?" He chuckled, shaking his head.

Another friend chimed in, "Yeah! Just remember Mason with no head!" he said, mimicking a dramatic gasp.

The group erupted in laughter, imagining the scenario. Liam rolled his eyes playfully. "Come on, guys! We're not going to get lost. What's the worst that could happen?"

A dramatic pause hung in the air before someone replied, "Famous last words, Liam!"

They continued down the main path, laughter ringing out as they shared more silly stories and jokes, the camaraderie making the hike all the more enjoyable. Daisy walked with them, feeling a sense of belonging amidst the playful banter, her worries from the previous night beginning to fade with every step.

As they walked along the winding trail, Chloe and Daisy found themselves drifting toward the back of the group. The sounds of laughter and playful banter from Liam and his friends echoed in the air, and Daisy felt a mix of warmth and unease at the camaraderie surrounding her.

Alex, who had fallen back to walk with them, noticed Daisy's silence. "Hey, Daisy," he said, his voice light and teasing, "Why are you always so quiet? We're not going to eat you, you know!"

Daisy glanced at him, her expression a mix of amusement and shyness. "I don't know... I've just never been around so many friends before," she admitted her voice barely above a whisper. "It's a bit overwhelming."

Chloe shot Daisy a supportive smile. "You'll get used to it! Just be yourself. We're all friends here."

"Yeah!" Alex chimed in, grinning. "Just relax and let loose. We're here to have fun! And besides, have you seen Liam? He's practically glowing over there." He gestured ahead to where Liam was chatting animatedly with the others, a wide smile on his face.

Daisy's heart raced at the sight. She couldn't help but admire how effortlessly he connected with everyone around him. A small smile crept onto her face as she watched him, but the thought of expressing her feelings sent a rush of anxiety through her. "He seems... happy," she replied, trying to keep her tone neutral.

Chloe noticed Daisy's gaze lingering on Liam and nudged her playfully. "You've got a crush, don't you?"

Daisy's cheeks flushed as she quickly shook her head. "No, it's not like that! I mean, I just—"

Alex leaned closer, a playful glint in his eyes. "Admit it! You like him! Look at the way you're smiling! Just don't go killing yourself over it, okay?"

Daisy shot him a mock glare, but deep down, she was grateful for their support. As much as she wanted to hide her feelings, the warmth of friendship made it a little easier to be herself, even in the face of her growing emotions.

The students reach the mountain's peak, exhausted but thrilled, and collapse under the shade of a large tree. They pass around bottles of water and soda, laughing and catching their breath. Daisy quietly sips her water, observing as Chloe, Emma, and Alex joke about the climb, while Manson sprawls out, joking, "Next time, we're taking a helicopter!" Liam, seated nearby, catches Daisy's eye and gives her a subtle nod, a shared acknowledgment of their effort. Mr. Carter watches over them proudly, chatting with a few students as everyone enjoys the well-earned rest and the scenic view.
