Jake inclined his head, gesturing subtly toward the elevator.
“Let’s go, then. My place isn’t far.”

Heeseung followed him, his mind racing with quiet trepidation as they made their way out of the office.

The night was calm, city lights casting a soft glow over the street as they stepped outside.

Jake led the way to his car, and Heeseung hesitated before sliding into the passenger seat, reminding himself that he’d set his boundaries.

Just a drink, nothing more, he assured himself.

Solon’s bedtime was reason enough to keep his time here brief.

The drive was quiet, both of them steeped in their own thoughts. Jake’s hand rested loosely on the wheel, his gaze focused on the road.

When they arrived, Jake led him up to his apartment, a sleek, modern space with floor to ceiling windows framing the city skyline.

It was immaculate and tastefully decorated.

Just like Jake, Heeseung thought. Everything in its place, exuding confidence and restraint.

“Make yourself comfortable.”
Jake said, gesturing toward the low, plush couch in the center of the room.

He moved to a small bar cart, pulling out two glasses. “Whiskey?”

Heeseung gave a faint nod, his fingers tapping restlessly against his leg as he settled onto the couch.

He glanced around the room, eyes briefly lingering on a collection of sleekly bound books on a nearby shelf, framed photographs that hinted at the parts of Jake’s life he rarely shared.

A side of him he kept just out of reach, much like everything else about him.

Jake returned with the drinks, offering one to Heeseung before sitting down beside him, close enough that Heeseung could feel the heat radiating from him.

Heeseung took a sip, the whiskey smooth and warming as it spread through his chest.

They sat in a comfortable silence for a moment, the city lights casting a gentle glow over them.

Jake finally broke the quiet, his gaze softening as he looked at Heeseung.

“Tell me about Solon.”
He said, his voice low, genuine curiosity evident in his tone.

Heeseung tensed slightly, surprised by the unexpected question.

He hesitated, but something in Jake’s expression encouraged him, as if he actually cared about hearing the answer.

“Solon..he’s my son. He’s four.” Heeseung said softly, a subtle warmth entering his voice.
“He’s full of energy, always curious, always asking questions about everything. Sometimes I can barely keep up with him.”

Jake’s gaze softened, a faint smile playing at his lips as he listened.

“Sounds like he takes after his father.”
He remarked quietly.

Heeseung felt his cheeks warm, a reluctant smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

“Maybe a little.”
He admitted, his voice softer. “He’s..everything to me. It’s why I don’t usually stay out this late.”

Jake nodded, his expression contemplative, as if he were seeing Heeseung in a new light.

“I get that. You’re responsible for someone, and that changes everything.”
He paused, his gaze lingering on Heeseung.
“But I appreciate you coming here tonight, even if it’s just for a short while.”
