2010
Warm summer night. My best friend, Luke, is having a bonfire at his house tonight. He still insists on being my best friend although I am three years younger than him.I threw on a red v neck and a white pair of shorts. I curled my longish brown hair and slipped on a pair of white flip flops.
"Alison, hurry up!" My older brother, Andrew yelled. He's taking me to Luke's house since he was invited too.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." I said.
We went over to Luke's and there were a lot of people there.
"Ali." Luke said coming over to me and Andrew.
"Lukey." I said and gave him a hug.
His bright smile lit up the whole town.
"Look at you." He said.
I never really dress up, I'm not a girly girl but this night is special for Luke. He threw this big party and invited many.
"Let's go to the tree house. We need to talk." He said and grabbed my hand.
We went up to the tree house and sat on a ledge. We could see half the town from up here. This was our get away spot.
"What to talk about?" I asked, my curiosity getting the best of me.
"Um, Alison, we're best friends, right?" He asked. Silly boy.
"Well, duh! We've been best friends since we were little." I giggled off his silly question.
"Well, I'm having this bonfire for a reason. A couple days ago, mom told me that we're...." he trailed off.
"You're what, Luke?"
"I don't know how to tell you exactly." He sighed.
"Luke, just tell me. You can tell me anything you know that." I said punching his arm lightly.
He looked down at his hands that were rested in his lap. His blue eyes not shining as they usually do.
"Luke, please." I said, resting my hand on his shoulder.
"We're moving, Ali." He said finally.
"You're what?" I said.
"We're mov-"
"I heard you the first time." I said tears prickling at my eyes. "When?"
The only question that could pop into my head. When? How much longer do I have with him?
"Next week." Luke sighed.
Next week. Next week?!
Next week, I'm gonna lose my best friend. Next week, he's gonna have a new place to call home. Next week, he'll find himself a new best friend.
"Please, please stop crying, Ali." He said.
I didn't even realize I was crying.
"Next week." I repeated. "Next week.""Don't get all worked up about it. I have something for you." He said. He then took off his black hoodie that he had on and handed it to me.
"What's this?" I asked.
"Its a hoodie silly." He laughed.
I laughed too, I mean him stating the obvious was quite funny.
"Of course but what for?" I asked, sniffling trying to stop my crying.
"Its my lucky hoodie. You know, my dad gave it to me. I want you to have it, for luck, and to remember me by." Luke explained, and there went that glow in his crystal blue eyes.
The wind began to blow and a chill went up my back. I put on Luke's hoodie and he began to smile. The wind blew his blonde hair and he just looked so perfect.
"Luke?" I sighed.
"Yeah, Al?" He said.
"I'm really gonna miss you." I said, lying my head on his shoulder.
"I'm going to miss you too, Ali." Luke said, wrapping his arm around me.
Feels good to be in his arms. Luke always knew how to comfort me. Not for long though. What if this is the last time that I am in his arms?
"Promise me something?" I said looking up at those piercing blue eyes.
"Anything."
"Promise me that we'll always be best friends."
"Of course. I promise. Forever and always." Luke said kissing the top of my head.
"You know, there's something that I've been needing to tell you." He said.
"Tell me." I said.
"I'm scared." He admitted. I rose up from his shoulder and looked into his eyes.
"Lucas Robert Hemmings you know you can tell me anything." I said grabbing ahold of his hands.
"I like you, Alison." He finally said.
My heart fluttered and butterflies went off in my stomach.
"What?" I asked.
"I like you, Alison Michelle. You and I have been best friends for awhile, a long while at that. Every time i see you my heart skips a beat and I never knew how to tell you. You're just so beautiful and I know that I'm a bit older than you and leaving soon but I couldn't hold it any longer."
I don't know what to say. I most definitely feel the same way about him and he just poured his heart out to me.
"I like you too, Luke." I smiled and kissed his cheek.
He looked me deep in the eyes and planted my very first kiss on my lips.
"Best friends forever?" He asked holding out his pinky.
"Forever." I giggled, wrapping my pinky to his and we both kissed our thumbs before smashing them together. It was a special pinky promise we made years ago.

A week later......."Do you have to leave?" I cried.
"I'm afraid so." Luke cried too. His eyes were puffy and red. He wiped a tear from my eyes and kissed my forehead. "You know I don't want to leave you, Ali."
"I know." I sighed. And wrapped my arms around him.
He wrapped his arms around me too and kissed the top of my head once again.
"I love you, Alison." Luke cried kissing my head over and over.
"I love you, too, Lucas." I said.
Within minutes Luke and his family were off to their new home. I cried for days and I couldn't go to school without remembering all the good times my bestfriend and I had together.
That may never happen again. Goodbye, Lucas Hemmings.
