"Clove Kentwell," I replied to the peacekeeper before he escorted me onto the train. The past two hours went by in a blur.As I had anticipated, I volunteered as tribute for the annual 74th hunger games.I had always planned to volunteer for the games ever since I was five.To bring glory and victory for my family and district had always been a dream of mine.If my mother hadn't argued with me, I would have volunteered at the age of thirteen just to beat Finnick Odair's record.Hence I waited three more years to volunteer, sharpening my skills each year.
As I boarded the train, I took in the change of scenery.Though district 2 was well-off, at least compared to other districts, the train was filled with riches I had never laid eyes on before.
"Hi princess."
I turned around to see which imbecile decided to call me a princess and I was greeted by Cato Hadley.Other then a few training sessions together, Cato and I barely exchanged few words.Just like me, he volunteered for this year's games.Cato had a strong build and was towering over me.He was also witty which could be of use to me till we had to inevitably fight each other.
"Don't call me that," I muttered through clenched teeth.I truly despised when someone acted like I was some damsel in distress, making me look vulnerable.
"Anything you say princess."
