It's a beautiful night; the night of Christmas Eve, to be exact. That one night out of the entire year where families reunite, serves as the precursor to the loving holiday of Christmas, and where the holiday season abrupts in full bloom, gathering anyone and everyone in a festive ambience to admire the very beauty of the holiday season.

As of right now, I am currently working at my office job as a secretary at the law firm I've been working at for a couple of years now, just gathering up some papers and filing up some wills that have been pouring in recently; but of course, the beauty of the holiday season has me distracted, as my gaze repeatedly travels to the window next to me, with the outdoors reflecting the winter ambience of Christmas spirit decor and the growing nighttide of the sky above, in unison to its twinkling stars that will pour fourth an array of floodlights for the magical night that awaits. It's almost time to leave, however, as my shift is over at 6, with it currently being 5:30. Then I can go home and just enjoy the precious charm of Christmas.

"Hey, Beth, you good? I've got some papers ready. I know there's a lot more to do though," my coworker Michael chuckles as he walks up from his desk to mine, handing me some things that we're supposed to turn into the office.

"Ah, thanks. Yeah, I'll let the office know. I'm still working on some things as well," I smile and grab the papers from him and put it on my desk, smiling as my head drops down to hide my blush.

Michael and I have been coworkers for around a few months now. We both work for the same lawyer, which means we do a lot of work together, constantly in each others' presence. In the time that I've known him, he's always been so kind, funny, and overall, very helpful. We've developed a friendship, even, ever since, nonetheless, I do have feelings for him. I'm hoping there is a strong possibility he feels the same way, owing to the fact that he has shown some signs here and there, flirtatiousness erupting between the two of us at times. He's single as well.

"It looks nice out there, huh?" Michael asks with a smile, referring to the snowy ground outside covered by a preview of the nightfall, the brink of Christmas Day.

"Oh, definitely. Can you believe another year has pretty much already passed?" I ask with a chuckle.

"I know, it's crazy. But hey, we gotta enjoy Christmas and New Year's Eve first," he adds with a laugh as he types up some appointment information on his computer.

"Yes, you're right," I smile.

"You're having dinner with your family tomorrow in Chicago, right?" He asks. I live in the outskirts of Chicago, around 20 minutes from the city; that's also where this office is located.

"Yes. And you're gonna be heading over to Michigan?" I ask him; I know he has family in Michigan. That's also where he's originally from.

"Yep, I'll be driving there tomorrow morning, just gonna get together with some family," he quotes.

"Nice! And yes, the holidays always have a way of bringing people together no matter the circumstances," I quote, as his eyes clasp with mine for a bit, peering deeply into my brown orbs as I peer into his warm hazel ones.

"Yep, they do," he warmingly smiles.

"The vibe of Christmas is like no other," I declare.

"Agreed. Gotta take advantage of something that only comes once a year," he grins.

"How has everything been, by the way? Haven't really gotten to talk to you much this past week cause of all these papers we've had to do," he comments, turning in his seat towards me and putting papers aside, since we both know the day will be wrapping up soon. Butterflies erupt in my stomach as his eyes once again meet mine.
