It's Christmas Eve, and I'm currently at the Newark Liberty International Airport getting ready to visit my family in Tampa for Christmas. The glorious ambience of the holiday season is in the air; people with cheerful smiles on their faces, decorations surrounding the atmosphere, and individuals all rushing to get to their flights in order to reach their goal of celebrating Christmas and the rest of the holiday season with their families, like me.
The only problem is, there's currently a snowstorm going on outside right now. A blizzard, to be exact. On Christmas Eve, where many people would've already been on their flights by now, on their way to see their families.
As of right now, I'm anxious rushing over to the flight time screen from my terminal, where it tells passengers what time their flight is, the status of their flight, what time they will be boarding, etc. I have my carry-on backpack on with my suitcase, anxiously awaiting to see what the status of my flight is and just when it is that I'll be able to head over to Tampa. The large dark blue screen eventually creeps its way into my sight as I'm surrounded by countless other passengers also awaiting to see how this blizzard will affect their flights.
My hand slides its way into my pocket to grab my ticket, where it tells me all the details of my flight that I'll need to look it up on the screen. My name, Savannah Moore, along with my flight number 46297, boarding time 9:00 PM, from Trenton to Tampa, gate B10, seat 7A. I henceforth find my flight number and look at its status, where it reveals that my flight has been delayed until tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM, until a voice comes up on the airport intercom:
GREETINGS, PASSENGERS AND TOURISTS, AND MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE! AS YOU ALL KNOW, THERE IS CURRENTLY A BLIZZARD GOING ON OUTSIDE. IT IS NOT AN EXTREME ONE, HOWEVER, AND OUR EMPLOYEES ARE WORKING HARD TO CLEAR UP THE RUNWAYS WHERE THE AIRPLANES WILL BE FLYING FROM. IT SHOULD BE CLEARING UP BY 10:00 O'CLOCK TONIGHT, HENCE WHY MANY OF THE FLIGHTS GOT SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW MORNING. STAY POSITIVE EVERYBODY!
Many sighs yet also many smiles erupt the room as the intercom message ceases, now knowing that this blizzard is not an extreme one and that our flights won't be too delayed. I'm happy as well; I of course want to spend the holidays with my family. Most of my family of course lives in New Jersey, but my mom's side has relatives in Tampa, and this year we decided we all wanted to spend the holidays together there. I didn't fly with my two brothers or parents due to our work schedules, however. But I'm glad at least I'll be able to fly there tomorrow morning, even though I'll be a little late.
My thoughts are interrupted as I drop my ticket whilst walking away from the flight screen, the crowds of people all anxiously walking away to get to their gate to be ready for tomorrow morning. I henceforth bring my gaze to the floor, many suitcases and individuals flying by as I try to search for it on the ground, where a man comes up to me with my ticket in hand.
"Is this what you're looking for?" He asks with a friendly grin, with a ticket in his hand. He's wearing dark blue jeans and a black sherpa jacket, and contains an olive complexion with hair resembling a deep chestnut hue and eyes streaked with the magnificent tinctures of brown and green; a fiery, bold hazel. He's rather handsome...
"Hmm...lemme see," I respond as he shows me the ticket, aligning with all of my information.
"Yes! Oh my gosh, thanks so much," I add with a chuckle as I put the ticket back in my pocket.
"No problem. Oh, and by the way, we're gonna be sitting next to each other," he says to me as he shows me his ticket. His name is George Alonso.
"Damn! No way George," I respond as we both start laughing at the coincidental fact that the man who I'll be sitting next to on the plane is the man who found my ticket. And a hot one at that. Lucky me.
