The next morning, the sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the hotel room. Oscar woke up to the sound of the city bustling beyond the walls, but inside, it was peaceful. He turned slightly, finding Nick still asleep beside him, his features relaxed in the quiet of the room.

Oscar studied Nick's face for a moment, the events of the past few days flashing in his mind. The pressure from the media, the constant scrutiny, had weighed heavily on them both. Yet here, in the cocoon of the hotel room, it felt like they could let it all go, even if just for a little while longer.

Nick stirred slightly beside him, a soft sigh escaping his lips as he turned over, his arm draping across Oscar's chest instinctively. Oscar smiled softly, letting himself relax into the moment. It was moments like these, when the world felt a little quieter, that made him feel connected to Nick in a way that words couldn't capture.

But as much as he wanted to stay in this moment, he knew the reality would eventually catch up to them. The media storm wasn't going to stop, and the pressure wasn't going anywhere. Oscar's thoughts started to drift back to the weight of it all, the knowledge that their private moments couldn't stay private forever.

He could feel Nick waking up beside him, the soft rustle of sheets the only sound for a moment. Slowly, Nick blinked his eyes open, his gaze meeting Oscar's with a groggy smile.

"Morning," Nick mumbled, his voice thick with sleep. "What time is it?"

Oscar glanced at the clock on the nightstand. "A little after nine. But we don't have to rush anywhere, not today."

Nick stretched, the slight shift in his movements bringing them even closer, his body pressing into Oscar's. Oscar's heart raced a little at the feeling, the closeness that made everything feel more real. It was simple. Comfortable. Just them.

"I think I could get used to this," Nick murmured, his hand sliding down Oscar's side, sending a shiver down his spine.

Oscar chuckled softly. "Yeah, me too. But we both know the media is going to be relentless the second we step out of this room."

Nick nodded, his fingers brushing against Oscar's skin absentmindedly. "Yeah, I know. But maybe we just need to keep our heads down for a while. Stay away from the cameras, just for a bit."

Oscar sighed, closing his eyes for a moment as he held Nick closer. "It's hard, though. The second I leave this room, it's like the whole world is watching. I'm just trying to figure out how to handle it. How to handle... us."

Nick paused, his hand stilling against Oscar's back. "We're fine, Oscar. We'll figure it out. Whatever comes, we do it together."

The simplicity of Nick's words was enough to settle the racing thoughts in Oscar's mind. He wanted to believe that. And deep down, he knew Nick was right. They'd face it all together. He wasn't alone anymore, and that was something he hadn't realized how badly he needed until now.

Oscar pulled Nick closer, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. "Thank you," he whispered. "For being here. For... not running."

Nick's arms tightened around him in response, pulling him even closer. "I'm not going anywhere. Not now. Not ever."

The words were a promise, one Oscar knew he could trust. It wasn't just about the chaos of the media or the intense spotlight of Formula 1. It was about them, about finding something real and grounding amid all the noise.

They spent the next few hours in that quiet cocoon of comfort, enjoying each other's presence without the world's demands pressing down on them. There were no cameras, no reporters, just the two of them, wrapped in the comfort of being able to exist without the weight of expectations.

But even in their brief moments of peace, the tension lingered. Oscar couldn't shake the feeling that something would shift once they stepped back into the public eye. The attention was only growing, and the relationship they had was becoming harder to conceal. He knew they couldn't hide forever, no matter how much they wished for that.

At some point, they decided to leave the room. The brief break from the media had been a much-needed reprieve, but reality was waiting outside, and they couldn't ignore it. They couldn't remain hidden away forever.

Oscar stood up from the bed, stretching his arms above his head. "We should probably face the world at some point."

Nick stood, too, giving him a smirk. "Yeah, but let's do it on our terms, okay?"

Oscar smiled back, grateful for Nick's lightheartedness. "Agreed. Let's take it one step at a time." They shared one last kiss before heading toward the door.
