Finally, I got some time alone with Rimsha. Mrs. Malik was outside on the phone, Mr. Malik had gone to ask the doctor if they would admit her, and Eshan had stepped out to get food for her. I sat down on the chair beside her, feeling the weight of unspoken words.

"Who was the man who did this to you?" I asked softly, my voice steady but filled with curiosity.

Rimsha turned to me, her expression a mix of shock and defiance, as if my question had struck a nerve. She hesitated before replying coldly, "It's none of your business."

I raised an eyebrow, meeting her gaze. "If it's not my business, then why did I save you?"

She looked away, unable to meet my eyes. After a moment, she spoke, her voice barely a whisper. "He was... my past lover."

Her words hit me like a thunderclap. I froze, my mind racing. Had I heard her right? My chest tightened, but I forced a smirk to hide my unease. Trying to lighten the mood, I quipped, "Itni ghatiya pasand hai tumhari? Ek kachre wale ko pasand kar liya?"

(Your taste is so terrible. You fell for a trash man?)

She shot me a glare, her eyes blazing with indignation. "Woh uska ghar nahi tha," she retorted sharply, "woh bas... phele uski koi relatives rehti thi jinse woh bhot attached tha, aur jab unka inteqal hua, toh usne woh ghar kharid liya."

(That wasn’t his house. It used to belong to his relatives, whom he was deeply attached to. When they passed away, he bought it.)

I gave her a side glance and muttered, "You still remember..."

She let out a frustrated sigh and said, "Mr. Ishaq, leave my way. Just... get out of my life."

I chuckled softly, leaning back in my chair. "Agar jana hi hota, toh aata kyu?"

(If I had to leave, why would I have come?)

Her eyes widened in shock, and she seemed to choke on her own breath. "K-kya?" she stammered.

I was about to reply when the door opened, and Eshan, Mr. Malik, and Mrs. Malik walked in. I got up, prepared to leave, but before I could, Eshan ran up to me and hugged me tightly.

For a moment, I was stunned. Then, I smiled and returned the hug. "What happened?" I asked, gently patting his back.

"You saved my api from a devil like him. Thank you so much, Ishaq bhai," he said, his voice trembling with gratitude.
