I watch the sky for several minutes, and then make my way over to the edge of the field. I look down and- SPLAT. A spray of ocean water attacks my face. The water is a dark gray color, and moves restlessly, breaking hard against the rocks that are underneath the field we stand on. The way the water moves, and how the sky churns, I fear a hurricane is on it's way. The clouds are moving in fast, and we need to find any shelter possible. I whip around to share my concerns with Belle, and notice the house for the first time. How could I miss this? It's a beautiful house, but why is it so dark? It might just be the little light from the sky, but the house looks like one big shadow.
Belle is standing frozen with one foot one the first stair of the stairs leading up to this creep fest. I look up in time to see a shutter slam shut. There's a pounding from inside, like someone is running down a flight of stairs. I run to where Belle stands and pull her away from the house. If someone lives here, theres got to be a boat or something to get out of here. The storm is fastly approaching, but at least attempting to get out of this place sounds better than nothing.
We start to run to the other side of the house. I notice Belle studying the sky, and she starts to slow.
"What are you doing?!" I yell, "We need to get out of here. Now."
"Do you see the sky? There's no way we're getting out of here anytime soon. And how would we do it anyways? We don't even know where we are!" It seems we have to yell now just to be heard over the roaring wind.
"You saw that shutter close right? Someone lives here. They might have a boat we can-"
"A boat? We need a car!"
I pull her over to the side of the field.
"Crap. Crap crap crap crap crap! Well, even if we find a boat, we can't go that way either. The water would swallow us up before we could even get close to escape. And where would we go? We don't know where the next piece of land is, and we have no food or water. And you're sick Jonathan, really sick."
"You don't look any better than I do!"
She stops talking for a moment and takes this in. We're both on the verge of collapsing. I had a burst of adrenaline, but I can feel it fading away. The running is starting to catch up to me, and I collapse to the ground. This time I'm the one to black out.
