🎵Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus
It was one of those perfect, sun-soaked afternoons in Barcelona, the kind that made it nearly impossible to stay cooped up in a classroom.
Luna tapped her pen against her notebook, casting a glance at Marina, who sat beside her, her eyes practically glued to the clock on the wall.
As the teacher droned on about ancient history, Marina turned and mouthed, "We're leaving."
It wasn't a question.Luna's lips curved into a smile as she gave an almost imperceptible nod.
Moments later, they slipped out of their seats and headed toward the door, unnoticed in the half-hearted bustle of a routine class.
Within minutes, they were outside, breathing in the freedom of the open air.
Luna took a deep breath, feeling an instant rush as they walked down the bustling streets of Barcelona.
She felt alive, rebellious, a million miles away from the girl who was usually overshadowed by her siblings and their parents' expectations.
Today, they were untethered, just two girls determined to escape whatever boundaries their lives had placed on them.
Marina pulled a pack of cigarettes from her bag, offering one to Luna.
They weren't exactly regular smokers, but something about today demanded a little bit of rebellion.
Luna took one, letting it dangle from her lips as Marina flicked her lighter and leaned in to light it for her.
She exhaled, watching the smoke drift away into the sunlight, feeling daring and reckless in a way that felt both foreign and deeply satisfying.
They wandered aimlessly through the narrow, winding streets of the Gothic Quarter, laughing and talking about everything and nothing at all.
Marina was the only one Luna could be truly herself around, the only person who didn't care about her family name, her brother's fame, or her little sister's charm.
With Marina, there were no expectations.
They were just two teenage dirtbags, laughing too loudly, swearing under their breath, and savoring every stolen minute of freedom.
At one point, they found themselves in Plaça Reial, the iconic square filled with tourists and street performers.
They sat on the steps of a fountain, leaning back and watching the world go by as they took another drag.
Marina nudged her. "If Hector saw you now, I wonder what he'd think of our princess," she teased.
Luna smirked, flicking ash from the tip of her cigarette. "Let him see," she replied, a defiant edge in her voice. "He can take it or leave it."
"Maybe he'd like it," Marina said with a mischievous glint in her eye. "I mean, yesterday... he looked at you differently, didn't he?"
Luna's stomach flipped at the memory of Hector's gaze, the way he'd noticed her in a way no one else ever had.
But she shrugged, trying to play it cool.
"He probably just thinks it's funny I'm not that kid with the blonde hair and glitter anymore.""Maybe." Marina raised an eyebrow. "Or maybe he's starting to see you for real. I'm just saying, guys don't go out of their way to pick up just anyone."
Luna took another drag, letting the smoke fill her lungs as she mulled over Marina's words.
She couldn't deny that something felt different around Hector now, but admitting it out loud felt... risky.
