Chapter 5
Nagising ako sa kakaibang ingay. Para bang may umiiyak. Who the hell is sobbing? I slowly open my eyes at bumungad sa'kin ang isang familiar na place.
Elixir Chamber.
Huh? Bakit nandito na naman ako?
"Oh my gosh, Verena you're awake!" Nagulat ako sa sigaw ni Hera. Kitang-kita kong namamaga pa yung mata niya.
Did she cry?
"I'm sorry!" Athena said. Nagulat pa ako ng yakapin nila ako.
"Verena sobra kaming nag-alala sayo," Hera said, still sounding like she’d been crying.
"Grabe akala namin di ka na magising," Athena added, voice shaky.
Napakunot ang noo ko. Anong bang sinasabi nila?
"Wala bang masakit sayo?"
Wala. I'm perfectly fine. "I'm okay," tipid kong sagot. "Why the hell I'm here?"
But all I remember was a hazy blue twist of events. I tried so hard to piece together the scattered memories, but I couldn’t.
What the hell?
Huh? Natigilan ako. 2 days akong nakahiga dito? Ano ba talagang nangyari sa'kin? Why the hell can’t I remember anything?
"Iniligtas ka ni Chaos!"
Ha? Sino ulit nagligtas sa'kin? "Did you mean Dash Chaos Obsidian?" I asked hesitantly. "You've got to be kidding me!"
I could feel my heart racing. Chaos? The same guy who’s always been around the academy, the same one I’ve barely exchanged a word with, just saved me? This whole situation was more confusing than I could understand.
Athena and Hera exchanged a glance, looking at each other like they were debating how much to tell me.
"Yes, Chaos," Hera confirmed. "He’s the one who found you when—"
"Wait," I interrupted, trying to make sense of all this. "How did he find me? What happened exactly?"
Athena sighed, her voice quieter now. "It was... it was a spell, Verena. You were in a state—a deep, almost dangerous state of magic, and if Chaos hadn’t shown up when he did, we don’t know what would’ve happened."
I froze. A state of magic? My mind was swirling with questions, but I couldn't seem to catch hold of any of them. My thoughts kept jumping from one thing to another, trying to figure out where I’d been, what had happened to me, and why Chaos had been the one to pull me out of it.
“Is he... Is he okay?” I asked, suddenly feeling an odd sense of concern. I couldn't explain why, but the thought of Chaos, of him being involved in all this, made me feel something I couldn’t identify.
Hera smiled gently, though there was still worry in her eyes. "He's fine, Verena. He made sure you were okay before leaving."
Left? He didn’t stay? My mind was a mess of confusion, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how little I really knew about him. And about myself, apparently.
