"A game of pool."

Part 1:

"I really don't know what to do anymore. I am bored out of my mind," I whined as I was sat on my best friends couch complaining.
"It's only one more week until you start at your new job. I'm sure you will be fine until then Alison," Anna said, laughing at me a little.
"No, I don't think I will be. Taking time off after my last job sounded like a great idea and it truly was but three months are longer than expected, especially since I only stayed here in the city, not travelling anywhere, therefore there was nothing exciting happening in my life."
"Your family did come to visit you a few times," Anna said looking at me offendedly.
"Okay, maybe you're right," I briefly paused, "It doesn't change the fact though that I am bored," I dragged out the last word on purpose.
"I hear you. Let's go out Friday night alright? To celebrate new beginnings. How does that sound?" Anna offered.
"Yes please. Anything to entertain myself." I usually wasn't one to party. Rarely did I ever do it, not because it can't be fun but more because it wasn't really my thing but today I was feeling in the mood for it. I wanted to go out before life got serious again on Monday.
"Where will we be going? I heard there is a new bar opening. I'd love to check it out."
"Let's go there then, anything to satisfy you and make you happy. You know I love you but I cannot listen to you complaining about boredom any longer. I wish I wouldn't have to work right now," Anna let out a deep sigh.
"Deep down I really appreciate this but I'm also glad when Monday arrives and it will all be over. Also thank you for listening to all my rants, whether it was about my recent hookup, family drama or my boredom. You know I love and appreciate you."
"Love you too," Anna replied, smiling at me.

I was ready for tonight and for Monday as well. I had deep cleaned my flat, organised my closet and already started building a new routine for before and after work.

Back to today, I had already showered and gotten dressed. I was now sitting at my vanity focussing on my hair and make-up. I wanted to look good tonight, living it up before I got back into a working life style. I was excited though, my new position sounded very promising. I dried and curled my hair putting on a bit more make up than usual since it would go nicely with the leather trousers and off-shoulder top I had chosen to wear tonight. I paired it with simple heels, which were only three inches high. I grabbed my clutch to put my keys, card and my phone into it before leaving and going downstairs to wait for my Uber.

The air outside was nice and cool, it felt like a perfect night with the sun slowly starting to set. Instead of mindlessly scrolling on my phone I purposefully kept it in my clutch and instead decided to fully take in the view before me and to live in this moment. I took a few deep breaths reminiscing on the past few months. A lot had happened yet nothing had really gone down, it's kind of weird.

After tipping my Uber driver I finally got out of the car and went inside the bar. It was quite big but the space was filled intentionally with a lot of thought put into the furniture and decorations. In a back corner were two pool tables and on the opposite wall you could play dart. There was a TV next to the bar with a football game ongoing on the screen. I immediately spotted Anna at the bar waiting for me.

"You look gorgeous," she immediately said as I walked over.
"Right back at you. How are you?" I asked while sitting down next to her.
"Good. Glad that this week is over, I need to tell you about what happened at work today. I'm still fuming."
"Please, tell me all about it. But let's order drinks first. What are you in the mood for?" I asked.
"Mojito definitely."
"Yeah that sounds good, I'll order one for myself as well," I answered before ordering for the both of us.

After getting our drinks served we started chatting about our day and Anna caught me up on all the drama happening at her workplace.
