 I picked out a nice light blue dress with floral print and silver heels mom curled and braided my hair nicely. I looked definitely ready to be a hunger games contestant, the whole time we were walking there mom kept getting scared once we were a block away she pulled my hand back so we were behind my dad and rue "Katie I need you to listen to me. There planning on doing the hunger games again, once we get there they are going to prick your finger and then go walk by your frie-" my face dropped at the word prick I hate needles I was like my aunt prim that way. I wish I had gotten to know her "look Katie I know you hate needles but it only hurts for a second. And lastly if and this is a long shot you get picked do not walk up there I will volunteer for you got it?" I just looked at my mom blankly how dare she not want me to be a tribute "Katie do you understand?" She said getting enraged "yes" I said sadly "oh and one finale thing please go stand by your friends your brother is to young and I'm to old but I have a feeling something will be different about this game". She said that as we got there she gave me a side hug and kissed the top of my head "hey don't worry love you" she whispered in my ear "love you too mom" she walked the other way to wear the parents and underaged kids were I stood behind Michelle I tapped on her shoulder "hey Katie" she said smiling " hey el" "aren't you so scared" she said as we neared the front of the line " yeah" I gulped down my saliva as I got to the front. When they pricked my finger I bit my tongue, Michelle waited for me so we walked together to were the rest of the girls were standing. Michelle squeezed my hand and I gripped onto her hand as they started "good evening  district 12 and welcome to the picking of the tributes!" Said a overly excited voice who was Effie "isn't it just so lovely that they brought back the hunger games" there was slow clapping all around and for a moment I could see that there was fear in Effie eyes. "Let's get into it  shall we?" She smiled as she walked towards  the girls side "for are female tribute....." I could see her face drop as she looked at the name for a quick second she looked at my mom weird I know they worked together but that was strange unless..."Katie Mellark" she said finally people turned to me I could see my mom ready to shout before I felt arms under my armpits as I was brought to he stage mom looked terrified ru looked on the verge of tears and to be honest dad did too. Effie gave me a sad smile "and the mall tribute" she grabbed the card "Parker lodgings" my face dropped no way this creep was my partner Jesus I'll come back dead or if I'm lucky scared from his pedaphilness "these are your tributes for district 12!}" Effie  said happily I'll have to ask her how she masks her true feelings. people were still slowly clapping and them I felt the arms throw me through the doors and drag me up stairs and into a room. It had been 15 minutes since I was thrown in that room and I could hear fighting coming from the bottom floor, then the door opened "hel-" "SHOULDN'T I BE ABLE TO SEE MY FAMILY BEFORE I LEAVE IT ONLY FAIR ATAHT I CAN SAY GOODBYE ONE LAST TIME BEFORE YOU SEND ME OFF TO DIE!!" I said enraged to th patrol officer that walked in "aren't you a feisty one" he laughed at his own comment "feisty one are the first to die" he said glaring at me "you have 5 minutes!" He said yelling my mom walked into the room followed by my dad and ru "o h my god Katie" my mom said hugging me her weight brought me onto the floor. I cried into her shoulder I neede to let it all out u cried into dads side I think they  explained to him what the hunger games were "five  minutes are up" said the official walking "KATIE BE SMART AND REMBER THE BEST WAY TO SURVIVE IS TO" and they were shoved out before she could finish her sentence " you have an hour then you leave" said the official. I slid on my knees to the floor then cried. I understood why  everyone was so terrified of the hunger games, because it was all a big trick.
