(Y'N's POV)

I wake up to a blinding shine of light coming through Demitra's bedroom window. I feel Demitra's body still curled up against mine, her breath slow and steady. I can tell she's still asleep, her head resting on my chest. I shift slightly, trying not to disturb her, but it's like she can sense when I move. She keeps me still on the bed until I hear a noise.

Just as I start to relax, my phone buzzes from across the room, slicing through the quiet. I groan, not wanting to move, but I can't ignore it.

"Ugh, who calls this early?" I mumble to myself, slowly pulling myself out from under Demitra's arm and sliding out of bed.

The floor feels cold against my feet, and I shuffle over to grab my phone off the table. I glance at the screen. Unknown number. I roll my eyes, but something stops me from ignoring it. Maybe it's the feeling I've been getting all morning, like something's off. I swipe to answer without thinking.

"Hello?" My voice sounds dry with roughness.

There's a brief silence before the voice on the other end speaks, low and weirdly familiar.

"Y/n?"

I blink at the phone screen for a second. I know that voice. Jasper. My chest tightens as my breathing starts to go a bit faster than usual. I look back at Demitra to see her fully asleep on the bed.

"Jasper?" I ask confused.

There's a brief chuckle on the other end, and then a sigh. "Yeah, it's me. Didn't think you'd recognize my voice so easily."

I stand there for a second, staring at the wall, trying to figure out why he called me after a VERY long time. The past feels like it was just yesterday, but it's been years since we last spoke. After everything that happened, I figured I'd never hear from him again.

"Why are you calling?" I say, keeping my voice confident. "I thought you moved on."

There's a pause. "I did, but you... well, you've been on my mind. And I wanna ask you something."

My stomach feels weird at his words, and I glance back at Demitra, still asleep in bed. I suddenly feel the weight of his weird tone and start to feel uneasy on my stomach. I grab a nearby chair in her room and sit down.

"You've got to be kidding me," I mutter under my breath.

Jasper's voice softens. "I know, I know. But I had to reach out. Can we talk? In person?"

I sit there confused, and awkward at the same time. "No." I hang up the phone and turn to see if Demitra woke up. She might suspect something so I'm just gonna block this number. How did he even get my number?

Does someone I know talk to him?

(Demitra's POV)

I slide out of bed slowly, trying not to make too much noise. I walk toward her, trying to stay calm.

"Who is it?" I ask, trying to keep my tone neutral.

She glances back at me briefly, the phone still pressed to her ear. There's this moment of hesitation before she answers. "It's... someone I've known in high school. But don't worry about it. They were just asking me a favor to set up them up."
