Chapter 23. More Then A Misunderstanding

Niall's POV

Well, this isn't exactly the way I had hoped to see Britt. But it'll work. She freaked out when she bumped into me.

"Can I know the reason you're avoiding me?" I asked.

"Why do you think I'm avoiding you?" She answered.

"Your texts. It's not the Britt I knew. Something's up, what is it?" I asked again. "Was it something I said or did?" Why is she acting so different?

"No, it's nothing you did Niall..."

"What is it then?" She paused for a moment then asked.

"Who is Zoe Whelan?" What? What bought this up?

"Why do you ask?"

"Can I just know please?" she asked again.

"Ok..." I told her. "She's a friend that I met last year on the Up All Night tour. Now can I know why you ask?"

"That's all I wanted to know. Bye." Britt went to turn around and walk back the other way. I got a hold of her arm and pulled her back lightly.

"That's not what's bothering you." I said. "Can I know the real reason you are avoiding me?" My phone buzzed. It was Jules this time. Why would Jules be texting me now?

Juliet: Britt is going to kill me for saying this, but Britt thinks you're dating some Zoe Whelan. It's all over the web. That's why she said she wasn't coming today.

So that was why.

"It was Jules." I put my phone back in my pocket and looked at Britt. "You think I'm dating Zoe? You must have misunderstood..."

"I think this is more then a misunderstanding." Britt corrected me.

"Let me set this straight. Zoe and I are not dating. Gosh, no! We've been friends for several months, not dating!" Britt thought for a moment, then blushed red.

"So, that rumor..."

"Is a lie. I'm still single." I winked. She smiled lightly. "Don't ever believe those internet rumors. Junk, that's all they are." Britt nodded.

"I see that now."

"Now why exactly were you so upset about this?" I asked. This was what I really wanted to know.

"Well, um, I kinda... uh..."

"You like me don't you?" I teased.

"I didn't say that." Her face went red. Yup, I just detected something! I chuckled lightly

"You didn't say it, but that's why you've been avoiding me hasn't it?" I grinned. She bit her lip and didn't reply. "If it makes you feel any better, I... I like you." I admitted openly. This time, it wasn't a dare. The lads do not need to know about this yet. Britt smiled, then I said. "Can we join the others now? I'm hungry." We hopped into my car and drove to Starbucks where the rest of the gang is.

We drove into the small parking lot, and hopped out. Britt followed behind me to the doors. I held it open for her with a smile then we walked in. Hm, no sign of the boys or Jules and Cara. This was odd.

Me: Louis where the heck are you?! If they set this up...

Louis: sry mate, we didn't think you were coming back so we left. Take your time with Britt :) if u want, meet us at that small grassy area near the drive in movie place. 

Yup, this was set up.

"Where are the others?" Britt asked.

"They left."

"This was set up wasn't it?" Britt grinned lightly. I chuckled with a light nod.

"We'll get something and then go find them." I told her, stepping up to order.

"Darn, my wallet is at my apartment..."

"You don't need it." I said handing her a coffee and blueberry muffin. "Here ya go."

"Thanks." She smiled. We walked out and back to my car. We're just going from place to place today. Sidewalk, car, Starbucks, car, and now we're off again. "So where exactly are they?" Britt asked.

"A quiet grassy area near that drive in movie place we went to. It will be nice to be outside and undisturbed." I replied.

"Oh yeah, I kinda forgot for a moment that you were like famous. You haven't gotten mobbed by girls yet." Britt chuckled.

"I have ways of blending in and staying unnoticed."

"A stealthy leprechaun huh?" She teased.

"That's me."

Harry's POV.

Jules told us about Britt and that Niall rumor. Hopefully, they worked it our and, maybe Nritt exists! Oh I'm just trying not to get my hopes up. Nritt or Louiet, either one is good with me. Both would be massively exciting!

About twenty minutes later, Niall and Britt joined our small party. Ok, maybe not party.

"Does Nritt exist yet?" I yelled. They laughed and shook their heads.

"Sorry to disappoint you Haz." Niall grinned. Well, I'll have to keep working on them.

For the next two hours, we just hung out. Zayn, Liam and I were able to joke and tease Louis and Jules quite a lot. Britt and Niall too, but we figured teasing Lou and Jules would be better today since Niall and Britt just worked out a minor misunderstanding. Thankfully, everything worked out.
