I have always been a business dog focused on the work and profit of my food company. Without the distractions of an ordinary life such as children, women and family relationships, I managed to achieve a full and large company. Despite the moments of need, I never missed anyone in my life, until one day I participated in a battery of meetings with new hires through HR. One of the new guys caught my eye, in a different way.
It was a few minutes before the fifth meeting of the day, near the end of the day and I was already in automatic mode. I took the elevator down from my office on the 20th floor to the 9th. In the middle of the descent, by the 16th floor, a young adult fox comes in and barely looks into my eyes. As I was accustomed to being greeted by the other employees of the company, I took the disrespect and tried to get his attention with a fake throat clean. Still, he didn't look at me, so I went more direct.
Vinnícius: Good afternoon.
Young man: Good afternoon. Want a mint?
He astounded me with a quick move, offering some tablets with his paw over his shoulder. I quietly took one, with some doubts in my head. How come he still didn't realize I was his boss?
Vinnícius: Thank you.
Young man: You're welcome. We must be prepared in case something goes wrong, right?
Having a chuckle, the elevator door opens, and he jumps out, taking the lead. I noticed that he also came down to the floor of the meeting rooms, but I haven't been able to recognize him yet. Even more so for not being able to see his face, but the mint at least really was refreshing and took that bad feeling out of my throat.
I made my way into the meeting room with even less time to spare until the meeting and greeted some of the new guys outside. When I came into the room, the vice president was waiting for me.
Francis: Vinny. Good to see you.
Vinnícius: Not in the work environment, Francis.
Francis: Of course, of course. Ready for the little fake meeting?
Vinnícius: Judging the presentation of simulated projects is also important. They learn a lot from this experience and even more so when they join KomeCat.
Francis: I still don't know how I convinced you of that name.
She gave a slight laugh, tidying up their fine whiskers. I exuded by the muzzle and turned my focus to my watch, counting the minutes.Vinnícius: They're going to come at any minute. Ready?
Francis: Just as the other four times and the next three tomorrow.
Vinnícius: Don't even remind me.
Soon, the rookies began to arrive in the room and greeted us. Each of them began to present their works while Francis and I gave our evaluations and tips for the next time when they would present business projects. Some brought absurd surreal things while others showed projects that we had already adhered within the company, but they were congratulated on the developed thought aspect.
Francis: We're almost at the last one, apparently. – Francis whispered to me. – Want to stop by a restaurant later?Vinnícius: Today is what? Thursday? I'll go back to the office after this and I'm going to see if it's going to be possible.
Francis: I hope it's positive. There’s a restaurant specialized in noodles that I wanted to meet and it can be a unique experience.
Vinnícius: OK. Next one, please!
