I woke up, not in my own bed, but in the bed of my new found mate. I look around, wondering what a vampires house looks like. I text Diana that I stayed at a guys house, planning on elaborating later.

"Morning," Marcus says sitting up in the bed.

" Morning," I say looking at him before my phone buzzes, Diana says she'll get the explanation later.

"Who you texting?" He asks, looking at the picture I pick up to examine.

"My sister. This is a picture of you during the civil war, correct?" I ask, wondering how old my mate could actually be. I knew it had to be him, it looked just liked him.

"Yes, how did you know?" He asks putting the pitcture back down.

" I have a masters in World History and a bachelors in US History," I say, looking at him like he's an idiot.

" Well, you working on anything in your free time? Overachiever?"

" Yes, actually I'm working on a book about Alchemy," I say grabbing my stuff from all over the room and putting the rest of my clothes on.

" Wow, I was right," Marcus says as we walk downstairs.

" Do you have any bagels? I'm really craving one," I ask wanting to stay away from the conversation about us being mates.

"Are we really not going to talk about last night? About us?"

Here we go.

"What questions do you have?"

"Are you a witch or a shapeshifter?"

"Both"

" Am I your mate?"

"Yes, and I yours"

"How did you know?"

"Your heart rate just went up, you were nervous if You weren't mine."

"No I mean that I was your mate."

" When we first made eye contact, the world stopped. And my wolf and heart ignited."

"How are we going to do this?"

" Like be mates?"

"Yeah, with the covenant and my family, this is going to be rather interesting."

"Your family?"

"Sired family, the De Claremont's, my Grandfather is the creator of the Covenant."

Well that ain't good.

" Will you still be my mate? Even with the covenant?"

I finally start to break down, my heart rate is up, and I feel water behind my eyes.

" Of course, I wouldn't leave who I'm destined for due to some dumb covenant."

Relief, sweet sweet relief.

"With that I'm leaving back to Massachusetts with my Aunts that have mixed opinions on me having a mate."

"Mixed opinions?"

"One thinks I should have one, the other one literally put protocols in place so that I wouldn't have one."

"So, long-distance secret relationship till their or she's ok with it."

"Essentially, but you'd have to meet my sister while we're here."

"Of course, and you with my family after a small while"

"So it's settled?"

"Essentially"

"Ok then let's exchange numbers and plan for dinner with my sister tonight."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I arrived at Diana and I's housing, Diana was waiting for me with two mugs of tea. Particularly Chai, my favorite.

"So what's up with this guy? You never sleep at a guys house," Diana says sitting on the loveseat we got.

"Long story short, he's my mate," I say turning around to see her spitting out her Chai in shock.

"WHAT!" She says swooshing her finger accidentally cleaning up the mess.

"I know, I know. I should've told you sooner but," I say getting cut off.

"Tell me everything," Diana says holding my hand, leading me to sit down.

"His names Marcus, he's a doctor, but an American Vampire,"

" We'll only Em and Sarah will care about that part."

"I know, he's amazing, and you're actually gonna meet him in a couple hours."

"What do you mean by that?"

"We're meeting him for dinner, at a nice restaurant, at 7:00,"

"Why didn't you tell me sooner? That's 2 hours away!" Diana says darting to find clothes for us.

I text Marcus that dinner was on, and that Diana would love to meet him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Diana wore a nice forest green jumpsuit that made her eyes pop. While I wore a nice blue dress. I wore my mother's pendant necklace and my father's ring, to make it feel like they were meeting Marcus too.

We left in my rental car, on the way to a nice spot for French cuisine. My heart was racing with all the things that could go wrong. Like Diana not liking  him or the other way around. This was my one and only chance for a mate, for true love.

We arrived at the restaurant, and I saw him waiting for us in the front. We walk up and him and Diana introduce themselves with no problem.

We sit down and start learning about our lives and such.

" So Enora said Y'all are sisters, but also cousins. How does that work?" Marcus asks. I freeze, I don't really know what to do.

" Both of our parents were murdered in a witch sacrifice near the Ukraine-Russia border. Our Aunt's adopted us when we were both in Elementary school, as they were also looking after us when our parents died." Diana explains, looking at me. Before I avert eye contact.

Marcus grabs my hand, and comforts me.

After that, we dig into some escargot and then order entree's before talking more over dessert and coffee.

I ended up loving the night, ending it with a kiss from my beloved and a promise to do this again.
