"AH! I'm so excited for you to meet everyone. This is gonna be so great!" Eden squealed and clapped.

We were walking towards a big open field with a huge bonfire. There was music blasting from someone's car, and groups of people were scattered around the pit. People were talking, laughing, making out, and doing keg stands.

We made it down to the pit and met up with Aria and Carrie.

"Grace! You came!" Aria yelled and ran up to me giving me a hug. It was sweet but you could tell she was a few drinks ahead of me.

***

Aria had abandoned me to flirt with someone.

I stood alone holding my red solo cup, staring into the flames in front of me, looking at the sparks and smoke flying about. In the midst of the fire, a man caught my eye. Same hazel eyes, fluffy hair, and jawline. It was lunch boy. Standing alone, he took a sip of his drink and then looked at the fire. We made eye contact. again. I got a bit flustered and looked back down at the ground. I began to walk in search of Aria, Eden, or anyone at this point. I was passing through crowds of people, I must have been tipsier than I thought because when I hit someone's shoulder when walking by, I lost my balance and began to fall, very close to the fire. I was about to catch myself on a burning log until I felt a hand grab my forearm.

"gotcha"

My weight was swung back into an upright position. I found my footing, and before I could utter a thank you I looked over to see lunch boy still holding onto my arm.

"you good?"

"Yea, i almost fell into the fire"

"yea erm I was there"

"right...um yes thank you"

"Anytime grace"

"Oh I see you've done some research"

"Eh it's a simple verse, but most of the guys don't pay enough attention in class to know that"

I laughed.

"It's a pretty name"

"it's whatever"

"Could be worse, could be named after a french priest"

"huh?"

"um- Vincent. Sorry, i'm Vinnie my name is Vinnie" He spoke quickly

Ah. Good ol' St Vincent De Paul.

"Too bad there's no bible verse with my name it, it seems like you know your stuff"

"we'll it's easy to know your stuff when you parents version of a lullaby is excerpts from the holy bible"

he laughed

"trust me I know the feeling"

"Do you?"

I tried to call his bluff, thinking back to cash and his posse they didn't seem like the most godly citizens.

"try being an alter boy since 4th grade"

I snickered. Guess he was serious. I pictured him in the long gowns that altar servers wear and the worst part is, he seems like he's the only person on earth who can pull it off.

"wait do you still do it now?"

"uh next question"

"HEY! I see you've met vinnie!"

I look over to Carrie linked arms with some blonde guy.

"Oh grace this is Jack"

"Hi jack"
