I walked into a dimly lit empty classroom. I sat down and pulled out a book. I was early for detention and wanted to remain as inconspicuous as possible. Slowly but surely other students began filing into the classroom. Finally, Father Rick came in holding a briefcase and greeted us with a warm smile.

"Hello everyone, welcome to detention!" he declared

Father Rick was definitely the kind of teacher that wants high schoolers to think he's cool but fails miserably. Shortly after Father joined us, a guy from the boy's school walked in late, but not before reaching up to tap the highest point of the door frame prior to entering. This action alone suggested enough immaturity to turn me off. He walked past my desk and sat in the back of the room. He was tall, had dark skin, and wore his curly brown hair half up - half down.

After a quick rundown of the rules Father Rick stepped outside to take a phone call and almost instantly I heard "Psst! Hey!" I turn my head towards the sound and see the doorframe tapper looking in my direction, eyes noticeably red. I wonder if he thinks he doesn't look high, because he does.

"What?" I responded perhaps a little too harshly.

"Are you new or is it just your first time in detention?" he asked.

"Uh, Both actually, Sister Rose thinks my skirt was too short apparently" I gestured towards the pants I was wearing, "Hence the khakis"

He laughs and puts his hand out for me to shake. "I'm Cash"

I hold up a finger signaling for him to wait a second while I dig through my bag. I pulled out a small container of eye drops, and I placed them in the hand he was holding out.

"Put these in before Father Rick gets back." I instructed. I hoped while putting eye drops in he had forgotten that we were introducing ourselves because this guy does not seem like someone i'd particularly like to associate with.

He hands them back with an appreciative nod and I thought I was in the clear until he says "Wait, I never got your name."

As if right on cue Father Rick re-enters the classroom and everyone adjusts their posture and fixes their eyes on their books, attempting to look busy.

After another painfully slow half hour, detention was finally over. I quickly gathered my things as to avoid another interaction with this Cash guy. Is Cash even a real name?

I walked out of the classroom with a little extra pep in my step than normal and I made it to the hallway thinking I'm in the clear. I rolled my eyes as I heard hurried footsteps behind me and finally a hand placed on my shoulder.

"Where's the fire?" he said as he caught up to me.

"Your mom's house" I replied dryly and kept my gaze forward.

"Good one. But while we are on the subject, there's a bonfire on Friday that all of the SCSCSFGAB students go to celebrate the first week of school."

It took me a minute to realize that SCSCSFGAB was an abbreviation for the school and not him having a stroke. What baffles me more than the length of this school's name is that the students have yet to come up with a simpler acronym.

"And you want me to go with you?"

"Yeah, it'll be fun. Not a school-organized thing so no bible verses or anything like that. We just hang out and there's gonna be a keg!" He said excitedly.

"A keg?!" I replied with a healthy amount of sarcasm.

"Yes!" He responded. I guess he didn't get it.

"Yeah, I'll pass. Thanks though!" I rolled my eyes as I pushed the front doors of the school open.

Before he could say anything about me declining his invite, a group of 3 guys wearing the same uniform as him began approaching us. The one on the right had curly blonde hair and was giving major golden retriever vibes. The one in the middle had darker features and was easily a Gemini. And the one on the left was that same guy I saw at lunch.
