It was 4:30 in the afternoon, Paul was away on some teachers workshop and Sally was writing a new book in her art room. She noticed that it was quiet.....a little too quiet. Especially for when Percy and Annabeth were in the house. They would fight over stupid things like the spelling of, "doughnut" or "donut." As annoying as it was it as also incredibly adorable.
She sighed, got up silently, and walked into the kitchen that opened up into the living room. There was a movie playing but the two 18 year olds were not watching it. They were fast asleep.
Percy was laying down on his back on the couch and Annabeth was laying on top of him on her stomach. Her head was on Percy's chest and one of her hands was in a loose fist by her face. Percy's arm was wrapped around her smaller body protectively. Sally's smiled at the two, she picked up the remote and turned the TV off. She grabbed the blanket that was on the armchair, unfolded it and gentle draped it over her son and his girlfriend, careful not to wake them.
She stepped back to look at the pair, the two of them have been through so much together; they endured so much pain, so many battles and fights. She never wanted the life of a warrior for her son but the people he met, the friends he made, they helped him grow into the person he is today.
Sally turned to go back to her art room to continue writing. There was a knock on the door, Sally frowned, she wasn't expecting anyone. She quietly tiptoed to the door and opened it.
Standing there was, Helena. Helena, her younger sister. Her black hair was now long and it flowed down her back. Her blue eyes shown bright with excitement. Sally hadn't see Helena in 7 years. No calls, no texts, not letters, nothing.
Sally was pissed off.
"Helena?! What are you doing here? I haven't seen you since Percy was 10!" Sally exclaimed angrily.
Helena smiled, "AhHh I know! I have missed you so much! I thought a visit was due. Is Percy here? I can't wait to-"
She was interrupted by Sally, "Helena! Stop! Stop talking. Why are you here? After 7 years of no calls, no texts, nothing. Why are you here?" She paused and looked down, "When you left you were so angry, I thought I was never going to see you again."
Helena sighed, "I—I meet some people and something happened that changed my perspective."
Sally got a worried look in her eyes, "what happened?"
"Oh, I got arrested."
"You WHAT?!" Sally said, grabbing her sister and pulling her into the apartment and quickly shut the door, "what did you do?"
Helena rolled her eyes, "It wasn't me, I took the fall for one of my ex-friends who was selling and doing drugs." She sighed with a sad look on her face, "She set me up—planted the drugs in my car and tipped off the police. Even though I tried explain—the evidence was, well, in my car"
"Oh Helena," Sally whispered, "Why didn't you tell me? Are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine I guess.....but why are we whispering?" Helena whispered back.
